I hope LE or the ME ordered tests to see if meth showed up in Bella's or her sister's systems. My understanding is that it can be detected in the hair of children exposed to meth.

"Meth lab chemicals can be absorbed through contact with the skin, a danger that occurs both from cooking meth and from storing chemical ingredients. The effects of taking these toxic materials into the body through inhalation or absorption may be temporary or permanent, immediate or delayed, mild or severe, and can injure the lungs and skin, liver and kidneys and the nervous system."

https://www.azag.gov/meth

Even though I'm not surprised by the arrests I'm thoroughly disgusted that Bella's family cared so little for her and her sister that they gave themselves permission to put them in danger. I no longer care about the effects that drugs can have on a person's personality - theirs, JR's or anyone else's. The facts are that the first use is a choice made by the person and if that choice leads to a tragic ending then in my book they must face the consequences.

Obviously Bella's death didn't cause Tania to take stock of her life and think about making changes in order to mother her remaining children - she's made her choice and needs to be taken out of society.

Oh, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one scratching their head when reading the tweet about grandma feeling sooo bad about being asleep that night. Liars, all of them are liars!

:stormingmad:
+1 agree with everything you said. It is about CHOICES! Not excuses!

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — The home of an 8-year-old Arizona girl who was abducted and killed apparently was a nest of drug abuse and sales, police said.

A monthlong narcotics investigation resulted in the arrest Wednesday of Isabella Grogan-Cannella's mother, stepfather and grandmother on felony drug charges. Police said Tania Grogan, 29, and Ralph Folster III, 28, were dealing methamphetamine and heroin in Bullhead City, and that Grogan supplied methamphetamine to a family friend charged in her daughter's death.

"These drug dealers pose a significant risk to this community," said Bullhead City police Chief Brian Williamson. "I am proud of the members of the Bullhead City Police Department for conducting tenacious investigations that remove drugs from the streets of our community and put criminals behind bars."

Justin Rector has pleaded not guilty to charges including first-degree murder and kidnapping in the death and disappearance of Isabella. He told police he smoked meth in Isabella's Bullhead City home throughout the day she was reported missing on Sept. 2, authorities said.

The girl's partially clothed body was found in a shallow grave the following day. Medical examiners determined that she was strangled.

Grogan and Folster each were being held Thursday at the Mohave County jail on a $250,000 bond. They were appointed public defenders, but their cases will be contracted outside the county office because it already represents Rector in his case. Bond for Isabella's grandmother, Freddie Nicholson, 59, was set at $100,000.

Isabella and her sister were left in the care of Nicholson the night Isabella disappeared while Grogan and Folster were at the store, according to police records.

Searches of the home turned up drug paraphernalia and a methamphetamine pipe in Nicholson's bedroom, police said. Detectives said Nicholson was helping Grogan sell drugs. Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said Grogan supplied methamphetamine to both Nicholson and Rector the night Isabella went missing.

Officers said Grogan surrendered immediately Wednesday, but Folster refused to come out and enlisted the help of his girlfriend and neighbor to try and evade arrest. His 21-year-old girlfriend called 911 and falsely reported that an officer was shot at a gas station, police said. Folster climbed through an attic to a neighboring duplex where he was hidden from authorities, they said. The girlfriend and the neighbor were arrested.

Emergency dispatchers also received another call reporting an officer was down at a local motel, but police said it was unfounded and made in an attempt to divert officers away from the home.

Folster surrendered after a two-hour standoff.

A child-endangerment investigation of Grogan is ongoing, police said in a statement.

Rector remains jailed without bond. A status conference in that case is scheduled for Oct. 28.

Wow! Desperation may be the "Mother of Invention"!

Too much time on their hands? Perhaps going back to the old fashioned chain gang cracking rocks would be a way to release that energy...

However... Those notes sent between inmates... If confiscated by LE... May be very enlightening...kwim?

:waitasec:

Arpaio is way ahead of you Clue : )

Bad form - quoting myself...

Is $250,000 for bail normal in the U.S. for these types of charges?

This section of the article makes me wonder if JJR has made a statement. How else would they deduce that TG was the one who gave him the drugs he claims were responsible for his crimes? Obviously it's not a stretch to figure out, but the fact that they are *specifically* linking TG to JJR and the events that evening tells me he may have talked. JMO.

That makes sense. The reports say that LE's investigation stemmed from information they learned in September. While tips from the public or police informants might be useful, only JR himself could directly link TG as the source for his meth.

I also noticed that LE didn't find drugs during their raid, only drug paraphernalia. I hope that doesn't impact the case.

Wow, just wow! Heroin too? Given that all parties have prior convictions their bonds seem about right.

BTW, JR's status hearing is on the same day as Gabe Gaeta's next hearing so mark your calendars.

Police Press Release

UPDATE
Drug Sales Arrest

Bullhead City (Ariz.) – October 16, 2014 – Bullhead City Police have additional information regarding yesterday’s drug sales arrests at the home of Tania Grogan and Ralph Folster. Detectives also arrested Folster’s girlfriend, mother and neighbor.

During the two-hour standoff with Ralph Folster, he called his girlfriend, 21-year-old Niki Elizabeth Fox, and asked her to create a diversion in an attempt for him to escape. Fox called 9-1-1 and falsely reported that an officer had been shot at a local gas station. In another attempt for patrol units to leave Folster’s location, a call was made approximately 15 minutes later by a male subject who reported an officer was down at a local motel. Both reports were unfounded.

Fox was arrested on October 16th at around 1:30 a.m. at her residence in the 300 block of Church Street. She struggled with police and was arrested for hindering prosecution, resisting arrest and false reporting to law enforcement.

Bullhead City Police also arrested Folster’s mother, 59-year-old Freddie Lynn Nicholson, for possession of drug paraphernalia and transportation of dangerous drugs. During the homicide search warrant conducted on September 4th, police located a methamphetamine pipe in Nicholson’s bedroom. During the course of the narcotics investigation, detectives learned that Nicholson assisted Tania Grogan with her drug sales inside the residence.
Police also arrested their neighbor, 27-year-old Jaime Medrano. During the standoff, Folster had climbed up in the attic and gained access into the neighboring duplex. Medrano was arrested for hindering prosecution after police learned that he had harbored Folster in his residence during the course of the standoff for about two hours.
No one else was at the residence at the time of the search warrant, Wednesday. Police located some drug paraphernalia items in the home. Grogan and Folster’s drug sales charges stem from the information gathered from the month long narcotic investigation.

two charges of felony gun possession and heroin trafficking -- seems right (((from what I have seen before)))

Exactly. I can't figure out why with ALL the information in their month long investigation, the state of the home, the countless tips and endless parenting atrocities to choose from - that these people HAVEN'T YET been charged with child negligence and abuse??? I know they are still considering charges of this nature, but good grief... what more do they need? A child died because she was living in this hellish environment and was most definitely neglected and smoking meth around children is abuse if nothing else. She wouldn't have been in a position to be murdered had the parent's acted like... oh, I don't know... parents? I'm sure there is more but come on! I don't get the delay?

here's the current skinny on endangerment

http://statelaws.findlaw.com/arizona-law/arizona-child-abuse-laws.html

am guessing it would be more appropriate and punitive to follow up on the hunches of their criminal activity FIRST and then proceed with the endangerment otherwise it would have been ''speculative" Proof of their criminal activity would be a slam dunk on the endangerment JMO

She (GF) was arrested and sentenced in July this year on drug charges, so on probation. Guess Ralphy probably wasn't a good person for her to be hanging out with.

Hey, have you (or anyone) figured out who's pregnant? A comment on Ralphy's FB page implies it's NF but I saw another one either there or maybe on a different FB page hinting that Tania is pregnant.

I'm going with NF but if anyone has better info, I'd like to hear about it. TIA!

If you do an image search of the pg test TG posted, it comes up 160+ times on various sites unrelated to TG or the case.

I'm thinking his statement was made at the same time he told police he spent the day smoking meth at the house upstairs. Since they were still investigating the drug aspect re: TG and RF, I'm guessing they didn't let it spill to the media that JR alleges he got the meth from TG.

Rector reportedly told detectives that he smoked methamphetamine throughout the day in an upstairs bedroom the day the girl disappeared.

According to those laws in this link based on MSM reporting of LE comments about the condition of the home, this section would certainly apply:

Neglect -- when children are not given necessary care for illness or injury; leaving young children unsupervised or alone, locked in or out of the house, or without adequate clothing, food, or shelter. Allowing children to live in a very dirty house which could be a health hazard may also qualify as neglect.*

proof -- it would take someone to phone in a tip and who would have seen their house? one of their customers? am guessing they kept people at bay that could have reported ...... she only had the kids back a short time too.....

Yeah, proof. All the Bella FB pages had people accusing and ranting but I haven't seen any statements there or in msm that DCS was ever actually called by anyone. Even when TG lost Bella for several months it could have been done without DCS being involved.

From what I'm learning about cases here on WS, it takes an awful lot of neglect or abuse before DCS steps in and does something.
