On Sept. 2, the Yavapai County Medical Examiner confirmed the identity of a body found near Cherry Creek Road as that of Jamie Treakle Montiel of Cottonwood.

Joseph Montiel, Tuesday in Superior Court, accepted an agreement to plead guilty to premeditated first-degree murder in the death of his estranged wife, Jamie Treakle Montiel, in August 2012. The agreement calls for imprisonment for his natural life with no chance for release for any reason.
