Navajo County Sheriff's Office

Update on Missing/Runaway Juvenile:

Holbrook, AZ: On July 4, 2023, Jarrett Brooks was reported as a Runaway Juvenile out of the Joseph City area. Navajo County Sheriff’s Office Detectives have been actively working on this case for 36 days. There have been no confirmed sightings to date.

The Detective's investigation led them to the family’s residence, Jarrett’s last known location, in attempt to find leads on Jarrett’s whereabouts and information surrounding his disappearance.

The search of the family’s residence does not imply that the parents are persons of interest. Being that there has been no furtherance on leads, the detectives have started back to where he was last seen, his home, and now working forward.

The Sheriff’s Office is still seeking information from the public on any sightings or information on his whereabouts. The intention of our office is to locate Jarrett safely and reunite him with his family.

We would like to remind the public to only utilize vetted sources for information such as our social media.

So the Sheriff’s Office is saying that Jarrett has not been seen at all from day 1 missing. What happened to the two guys seeing him in their field, was this not true?

That was such a big part of the story, Jarrett was running back and forth with a gun in his hand but disappeared before the rancher’s could get to him. It was assumed that someone had picked him up, possibly a friend that he had contacted. This makes me very anxious, so scared for Jarrett. I am so confused, supposedly the gun was found to be missing after these two guys said they had seen him with it, the parents then checked the video and saw him taking a loaded gun.

I think by LE standards they can't confirm the sighting because the two individuals never actually made contact with the individual nor was there any surveillance video to verify what they saw. By their own accounts, they believe it was JB based on the physical description and the clothing the individual was wearing - and I believe (imo) they knew JB from previous encounters and were confident it was him.

They said “confirmed.” The sighting can’t totally be confirmed

Oh okay, that makes sense. Thinking about it I don’t believe Jarrett was picked up by a friend, there wasn’t enough time to arrange that, I think he hitched a ride with a trucker(hiding his gun of course) and the guy not being on Facebook or social media probably hasn’t a clue that Jarrett is missing. I am sure Jarrett probably took the gun to protect himself knowing that hitchhiking is dangerous. Jarrett could be anywhere by now and the further away he is the less likely that people will know he’s a runaway. I do think he could find plenty of farmhand type jobs as he is quite capable and personable. Hopefully he will return home soon.

Jarrett, if you're out there reading this, please go to the nearest police station and talk to them and let them know you're okay. As a parent myself, I can promise you, your parents just want to know you're okay. You matter so much and so many people care about your well-being. Anything that happened will be water under the bridge if you can just let your family know somehow that you are safe.

We really don’t know if Jarrett was picked up by someone. Just curious as to what the landscape is like in that area, I know that it was said that he hid behind a bush, are there any trees there? I hope that I am wrong but I think the likelihood of someone picking him up and holding him against his will is highly unlikely. Unfortunately the most obvious conclusion is self harm.
I Google Earth'd it . There is a lot of bushes and Rock and dirt formations around the town he's from. It would take only a few minutes and one could be out of sight I believe . Some water in the area as well. The Mesa Wash .

These washes in the desert are dry unless there has been a rain. If there is enough rainfall the runoff is shed through them , but they don’t stay wet.

With no leads, detectives have started back to where Jarrett was last seen at his home and are now working forward. The report by the Brooks that Jarrett was observed by a neighbor crossing his fields on the morning of his disappearance is also being investigated by NCSO.

It looks like he never left his home willingly to begin with!!
Where did you find that info at? Maybe I am reading you wrong but are you implying his parents? Or the neighbor? Personally I think he took that gun for a reason . That would explain no sightings in my opinion anyways.
