Paradise Valley High School teacher arrested; suspected of sexual misconduct with student

Phoenix police arrested a Paradise Valley High School English teacher and cheerleading coach Wednesday on suspicion of 29 counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Jennifer Mally, 26, who was placed on paid administrative leave April 25, was arrested at the school’s district office Wednesday after she appeared for a due process hearing with school officials, said Judi Willis, district spokeswoman.

“Last week rumors started floating, and, after the principal of Paradise Valley High School (Cara Herkamp) started looking into them, she decided to place the teacher on paid administrative leave, which is state policy,” Willis said.

Where can I get a job where I can get arrested, and still get paid like I'm going to work every day?

There's another teacher on the other thread charged with felonies for stealing a child's coat and also on paid leave. There's a murder suspect in my town who works for the state on pain administrative leave. Glad our tax dollars are being put to such good use.

Whenever I have an issue with one of my middle school child's teachers, I sometimes think that the administrators are just glad that the teacher in question is not sleeping with the students.

Seriously, there are way too many bad apples in the barrel.

The school district where I work does a good job of explaining "sexual harassment" and what is/is not considered that, but I think that all school districts should add this:

"If you feel yourself drawn uncontrollably to have physical relations with a student, just before you do, pull out your teaching certificate and burn it. Pick out the professional career you can have after you destroy this one.

Then go ahead."

Jennifer Mally will serve six months in prison and be registered as a sex offender after a judge sentenced her for three counts of sex with a minor.

Mally was arrested a year ago and charged with 17 counts of sex with a minor. She pleaded guilty to three counts in March and was sentenced on Friday.

Her office recommended a sentence of five years, which Mally's attorney, Mel McDonald, said would have been "brutally harsh."

Klein, after listing several mitigating factors - no prior arrests, remorse and strong family support among them -said Mally's "conduct in this case was reprehensible."

"You, not the victim, are the adult," he said.
