Johnson feels they're primarily focusing on Jhessye's mother, Jerice Hunter, and not on finding the 5-year-old.
"All these offenders in this neighborhood and all these people right next door, it's almost like a kid in a candy store," said Johnson.
Johnson told ABC15 that Jhessye might be with a cousin.
"I was comfortable she was taking good care of her," Johnson claimed.
That cousin, according to family members, raised Jhesseye for four and a half years while her
mother was in prison on charges of child abuse.
"She had parenting classes," Johnson said."She had all the classes that she needed to take to rehabilitate herself. Four and half years of that."
After being released in 2005, Hunter was reunited with all of her children including Jhessye. Now she has none of them.
"Well, everything you have was taken from you and you've been vilified over and over and over," Johnson explained when asked how her daughter was holding up.
