This poor darling little girl.
Jhessye was probably doomed from the day she went back into her mother's home. It's possible that Jerice never bonded with Jhessye since she was in prison for most of the child's life. That poor little girl must've been so confused by her change in circumstances, and also very homesick. The transition was done in a heartless way, so that says a lot about Jerice and her "rehabilitation" to me. As a mother...she was still unable to put her child's needs first.
It sure is nice to accuse the cousin who was kind enough, and caring enough to care for Jhessye while Jerice was in jail. How's that for gratitude? It sounds like Jerice and Grandma were jealous and resentful of the relationship the cousin had with Jhessye.

I think Jerice is at the heart of Jhessye's disappearance. She knows what happened to her little girl, IMHO.

I'm just now coming into this case. I've skimmed through both threads and didn't see anything mentioned about Jhessye's father? I saw that the cousins who raised her for the first four years were on her paternal side. Where's her daddy & has he spoken out at all or is he deceased?

Thank you for reading my mind. Exactly how I feel. The cousins are the victims here too. Imagine the pain and ANGER they must be feeling, after losing her to what they knew was an abusive situation. I can only hope and pray that they have her safely stashed away somewhere, cozy and warm. :rose:

Jhessye's father George Shockley is incarcerated in CA, RSO. Lewd and lacivious against ahild under 14.

I hate to say it, but I'm starting to believe Grandma's accusations that she isn't getting enough attention b/c she's black. :banghead:

I don't remember this ever being suggested, but thinking about how unhappy Jahessye must have been with her mother, there's the possibility she ran away. If so, we have the same problem with Patrick Alford's disappearance. If these children ran away, SOMEONE picked them up and knows where they are. A 5 or 7 year old does not wander the streets of a big city alone, scavenging for food, with tens of thousands of people oblivious to their presence.

I hate to think that Jerice and her mother have convinced some people that the reason Jhessye hasn't gotten any attention is because she is/was black. Those two outspoken angry women are trying to take the focus off of Jerice, who was previously jailed for beating her children. The children should not have been living with her. How did she manage to collect welfare for these children after she hastily left CA.
Notice how quickly the Arizona CPS removed those remaining children from her "home" once Jhessye was reported missing. Times have changed, and color should not have anything to do with searching for Jhessye. Problem is - it's hard to believe that a stranger snatched Jhessye, given the mother's history. Jhessye was missing from school quite a few days before Jerice reported Jhessye was missing. There were no reliable witnesses who could vouch for seeing Jhessye since her official school absence. No clues to give LE, what are they to do, no place to even start looking for this little girl.
It doesn't matter what color she is, my heart breaks for this little girl who was born to a mother in prison. Jhessye was taken in by an aunt, who gave Jhessye love, kindness and a good home. That's why you see those pictures of a bright-eyed smiling happy beautiful child - she was in a happy home. Then Jerice got out of jail four years too soon, and snatched Jhessye from the only place where she felt safe and loved. It's not about race, it's about a little girl who, following the laws of our country, was handed over to an unfit person just because she gave birth to Jhessye. It's a different kind of prejudice, when a child is forced to live with parents who don't give a darn about the child, only the monthly reward check from the state. It is prejudice when an adult is given custody over a child when it is not in the best interests of the child. Jhessye, they failed to protect you, and I’m so sorry.

I wish I could believe that Jhessye was safely tucked away somewhere.....but I don't. The fact that she was out of school for so long for a very minor issue, and locked away from everyone in the apartment on the day she went "missing" makes me believe that Jerice abused her, and that Jhessye died from that abuse. My gut instinct tells me that this child is dead at the hands of her egg donor. I was willing, in the beginning, to give Jerice the benefit of the doubt. But now that some facts have come out concerning Jhessye's disappearance, and all the deflection of blame that has been going on by Jerice and the grandmother....I just believe that Jerice is to blame.

It breaks my heart to think about how unhappy Jhessye must have been. I'm just glad that the other children have been removed, especially the very vulnerable newborn baby. Jerice should never be allowed the opportunity to be alone with any child ever again. Ever. She is beyond redemption as a parent IMHO.

I think LE knows also. I do not believe that race has anything to do with why they have handled the investigation in the way that they have. I believe that they are building a case against Jerice.

I truly don't think that's it. I think LE wants to give Jerice an LDT, and I also believe that they strongly suspect that Jhessye is not really missing because someone abducted her. If they had any evidence of an abduction, they would still be tearing the city up looking for that child, and using the media to get the word out.

We are not privy to all the evidence and experience that LE has. I think the race card is a convenient way to deflect suspicion, but there's no reason to think that no one in LE cares about this child because she's black. LE must not be buying Jerice's story because they have uncovered something that points right at her. It has nothing to do with race, but more than likely has everything to do with guilt.

I know all of us here at WS care deeply about this child, and to most people her racial background is unimportant except as a way to describe her appearance so that people know who to look for. But there's just nothing to put out into the public arena that isn't already out there. The media did cover this case, but it's gone a little cool because of other cases in the news, not because of Jhessye's race.

The egg donor needs to take the LDT she claims she is waiting on LE to administer. I'm sure LE would be glad to set it up. How about today Jerice?

Someone needs to call her bluff IMHO....

From that link:

Johnson and other family members were briefly at the apartment, which has crime scene tape around its perimeter.

Sgt. Brent Coombs, a spokesman for Glendale police, confirmed that police are on the scene but would not provide further information.

The FBI said they are assisting police as they have been since Jhessye went missing Oct. 11.

Crews in white gear were visible at the home, but few details on the latest development are known at this time.

Police have scheduled a news conference regarding the case for 2 p.m.
