So, already Jerice has someone to defend her. Too bad Jhessye didn't have someone that big and powerful defending from Jerice while she was slowly, methodically, brutally tortured. Death was not quick and compassionate for Jhessye. Jhessye was forced to suffer by her own egg donor. Poor helpless little Jhessye lived on for days in that closet, her eyes blackened, her face cut, her hair ripped out and her body badly bruised. I can't imagine the pain Jhessye was forced to endure before her battered body either finally gave up, or Jerice speeded up the process so she could dispose of her. The closet became a coffin, and I do hope with all my heart that there was evidence which Jerice could not scrub away with bleach.

Wow everybody. Just look at the difference in Jerice when she was facing someone who had some power over her. Notice how softly Jerice spoke to the judge, trying to look so non-threatening, meek and helpless.
Jerice: What a worthless piece of bullpoo you are. You had no problem beating up your children or screaming and ranting and raging at the media. You were an evil vicious bully. Did you learn how to role play those very Jeckyl and Hyde characters while you were serving time in CA for child abuse. Did all you criminals share hints on how to con your way through the legal system. Doesn't matter now, Jerice - the clock is ticking. You won't get away with murder. You can run but you can't hide. I hope your conniving enabling mother goes down with you.

IMHO

I couldnt say it better...thank you. She makes me physically ill. That, poor precious baby...

Jerice's appeal ...

ETA- Well carp, I can't get the case summary to open. But I found what I was looking for elsewhere. I think this is the statement you were thinking of EllaMae?

No. I have been reading all the documents and articles I could find posted here about Jerice. It wasn't about denying probation...it was about when she was actually paroled.
I've been looking to find the comment that stated the parole board had someone serving on it who had reservations about letting her out, but so far I can't find it again. It may have been removed.???? I am positive in what I read, but I just don't know where it is now.

It's become very obvious that her early release resulted in a tragedy, and that a child died as a result. Jerice was never rehabilitated in any way, and she went right back to her old way of life. Shirley may have believed Jerice had changed....but I strongly doubt that. I think she just wanted to be free from child rearing duties, and wasn't really all that concerned about the children, or if Jerice had the ability to be a loving mother.
I don't think the parole board had any idea that Jerice would be taking custody of her children in AZ, or that Shirley would enable her daughter in the way that she did.

Don't worry. They are working on justice as we speak. I really don't see Jerice getting away with it this time. her daughter's statement is at least enough for child abuse charges and Jhessye's nowhere to be found. I think they're gonna' get her.

And I don't think there is a chance in hello that those kids are going back to grandma.

I was thinking about something Lisa Vance told us. She said Jerice came and took Jhessye from them on August 18th, 2010. She was living in a Woman's shelter at that time, didn't even have a home or apartment. Did she need to have the kids in order to jump start/receive subsidized housing and other social service benefits? Otherwise, why wouldn't she have waited until she was settled and had a proper home for them?

Exactly when did Shirley give the girls back to Jerice? Did she have them before she demanded Jhessye back?

I honestly don't know the sequence of whether she took Jhessye back first or Shirley returned the others first. I do know when you are staying in a homeless shelter and you are attempting to get diffrent agencies and resources to asisst in lining up housing - the more children - the faster the paperwork gets pushed througha nd the more resources and assistance you qualify for. So yeah, getting situated may have been a factor in teh decision that she really wanted those kids all back right this minute :(

I read it too EllaMae, yesterday. Can't recall the media source but I read it. It went into how it was decided that Jerice could be released early and how some members on teh board were concerned about her being around children and if she might be a threat, etc. etc.

I think maybe some of us are suffering from Casey Anthonyitis.....so terrified that another murdering egg donor will escape justice. I think the outrage would overwhelm me if that happened.

That's me...I can barely "sch-wallow". I'm about to burst a spring..over this.... I wish they would find Jhessye's body.

Someone is funding this defense then. Perhaps her dad.

:truce:

While I know emotions are running high, the name-altering and name calling will have to stop...it is against TOS, regardless of how fitting it must seem.

The grandmother of Jerice Hunter believes she is responsible for the October disappearance of her daughter, 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley.

Following a Monday news conference by Glendale police , Hattie Hunter told reporters Jerice had 'something' to do with Jhessye Shockley going missing.

"I don't know if (Jerice) hurt (Jhessye) or what," said Hattie Hunter. "It might have been an accident."

So we hear from Jerice's grandma. She has apparently NOT been served Shirley's KoolAid, eithr that or she spat it right back out.

I wasn't able to come here over the holiday weekend but have finally caught up in between work. It made me sick to read that Jerice was released yesterday but it makes sense that if they intend to eventually file murder charges, they wouldn't want to disclose their evidence at this time. I just pray the hammer is coming down sooner rather than later.

I continue to pray that this baby girl is found so she can rest in peace.:prayer:

I know everyone is entitled to a defense but don't think much of the person that chooses to defend this scum. :twocents:

I totally missed that story, but would love to read what the Parole Board had to say at that hearing. I know ABC15 has several good investigative reporters, they were the one's that broke the 2005 abuse case, I think.

Is a transcript of the parole hearing a public document? Perhaps someone will make a request for the document and publish it.

If some members of the parole board were concerned about her being around children. I wonder if that was due to documents placed in her file from CDC&R staff counselors or MH evals? Maybe she did poorly in her counseling, which from what I see of her today, wouldn't be a surprise at all.

Yes! That's the exact article that I read! Thanks for remembering that.

I was appalled that Jerice was released even though some members were clearly worried about her potential to abuse children again.

I'm sure those same board members are having some sleepless nights now. I know I would.

I almost wish I hadn't read it. It made me so angry. That was another level of protection that failed Jhessye, and her siblings.

I wonder why they let her out with all those gut instincts telling them that Jerice was still dangerous? Does the vote have to be unanimous, or is it a majority vote? That might explain it, if those with worries about her were out-voted.

They should revoke her parole.

Oh no....not me. I am actually glad she doesn't have a public defender, so that she can't cry foul later on. I'm glad she is able to hire the attorney of her choice. I have respect for most defense attorneys, because they are there to protect us also. If he's really competent, and the evidence is overwhelming, he may be able to cut Jerice a deal and save the 13 year old from having to testify.

I hope this attorney is very competent, very respected, and does a good job defending Jerice. I hope there are no issues that could result in a successful appeal, and an overturned conviction. I want Jerice to have her day in court, and be convicted of murder, and I want it to stick. That can only happen if she has a very good and experienced attorney. I'm not sure if AZ has the death penalty, but if she's arrested for murdering Jhessye, and the DP is on the table, then she will need a competent lawyer with DP experience in order for the conviction to be upheld.

I hope she has a jury of her peers....mothers, fathers, grandparents....those with children in their lives that they love.

Jerice and Shirley are the type that will call press conferences and play the race card if there's a conviction. They will want to do the radio and talk show circuit, and get Al Sharpton involved....and make Jerice the victim. I don't want any of that.

I hope it all goes right by the book. Prison in AZ will be a living nightmare for Jerice Hunter.

I wish we could have some sort of confirmation that LE is actively searching that landfill. I have heard they intend to search, that they have the area of interest cordoned off, etc etc. But I have not seen it said that they are actually DOING it.
