Found Deceased AZ - Julie Cappetta, 53, visiting from PA, went for a walk, Sun Lakes, 10 Jul 2021

Yes, very typical of AZ housing developments. Also, if you are from AZ, you aren't walking anywhere if you don't have to. It's too dang hot for a casual stroll. Anyone see if she has any history of mental illness or substance use?

Perhaps she thought, as it is a hot day, walking early could be used for a little exercise, instead of later in the day, when it is much hotter.

Agreed. And as others have stated, it was HOT. If I'm walking anywhere when it's that hot, I don't really want anything in my pockets. Light & airy feels better in the heat. ...but that being said, I do also understand that connection between a woman & her purse/pocketbook/phone/etc. I'm really just not sure what to think here yet. It's definitely concerning though!

Yes, it is a retirement community. Very quiet and peaceful. I'm not sure why she decided to go for a walk when it was starting to get so hot. Her dad even told her he thought it was a little late in the day to go for a walk and to be careful.

She usually went walking much earlier around 6:30 am, but maybe because it was the weekend, she may have slept in that morning, I don't know.

When I walk, I take my cell, I wouldn't carry my purse etc. IMO

We wish she had taken her cell phone. She took a Walkman to listen to music while walking. Her cell phone was an old phone her son used to use but it didn't have gps on it.

Reward offered. The way it's worded, makes it sound like she was taken. But then the poster says reward for info leading to Julie.

$10K reward offered for the return of Pennsylvania woman missing in Sun Lakes

Her son says, "None of this feels real to the point where I should be emotional. Every time I'm in Arizona, I think I'm on vacation but then it comes back that my mom is missing. I don't know how to process it right now."

Her family says she's a great mother and would never leave her two sons behind.

"She loved her sons. I know that she is loving. We just want her home," said her sister-in-law Patricia Henderson.

Henderson said MCSO and tribal police are working together to find Cappetta.

"Just with everything that has happened throughout the nation with the murder of indigenous women and girls, this is a huge public health issue. Not just here, but all over. We're hoping the local police department works very closely with the tribal community. Where she's missing borders the reservation. We just want them to work together," Henderson said.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call authorities immediately.

Could she had decided to cool off in one of the nearby ponds and gotten somehow pulled under?

Or snakebite?

Somehow I didn't notice the "Health Risk - High Blood Pressure" on the flyer before.

My husband is on HBP medication and any real "hot" heat gets to him pretty quickly when he's outside, with feeling faint, clammy, dizzy, etc. He has to come inside right away to recover in the A/C.

We don't know if she was taken but that is our fear. We are still hoping and praying that someone has information that will lead to finding her and bringing her home safely.

Sounds like you personally know her. If this is the case please look into being a "verified insider" it allows you to talk about things without it being considered rumor and it also allows us to discuss what you post. IMO

You know, the only thing that makes sense is she became ill from the heat. I can't help but think she is somewhere within that community. Maybe in someone's backyard, outside a vacant home. I would take another very hard look within that community. She couldn't have walked far.

Doesn't look like there is much crime in the area- Crime in Sun Lakes - Sun Lakes, AZ Crime Map

@bathja18 I can see why you might consider Julie was taken, three days is too long for her not to be found if she had a medical emergency. Sun Lakes is a retirement community?

Holding on to good thoughts for Julie and her loved ones.

While the temperature might have hit a high in the 100's that day, it would have been considerably cooler at 9:30 am. Looking at tomorrow's weather forecast the high is expected to be 102 (4 pm), but expected to be 89 at 9 am and only get to 95 by noon. While hot, that isn't dangerous for most people.

Some people on here know of how to get historical weather reports. Maybe they can chime in.

I am of the impression that there was foul play. I wonder if her father saw her leave for the walk or simply knew she was leaving.

ETA: Found a site. It was 91 at 8:50 am, 97 at 9:50 am, and 100 at 10:50 am.

So many dang houses in that neighborhood, I'm hoping there's a high probability of folks catching her on their doorbell cameras.

She came to visit her dad on the 1st of July and disappeared on the 10th. Surely she had a routine of where she walked. Did she ever venture outside of the community on foot?

Why do people think foul play? Did she leave PA because of issues back home? And why come out at the hottest time of the year? (Unless she's a teacher and it's during summer vacation.)

Any possibility during her 10 days in AR that she met someone?

It's a retirement community, but is it a gated retirement community or not?

Also, 90s in Fahrenheit (mid 30s in °C) can be very hot for some people who are from cooler states or climates.
Perhaps she thought she was becoming accustomed to the dry heat of AZ after being there for 10 days, but in reality, perhaps not.

It appears this part was not, by the wikipedia article and looking at it on maps.

“We haven’t found any clues, leads, nothing to point us in the right direction,” mentioned Gabriel. “We don’t also have a place to start out and couldn’t inform you if she’s alive or not. We are simply struggling.”

When he returned hours later, there was no signal of his daughter however her cellular phone, purse and identification had been in the home.

“That’s not like her. She’d usually have her phone on her. She’d have an MP3 player to listen to music while she’s on her walk but to just leave the house with nothing on her isn’t right,” mentioned Gabriel.

Any sex offenders in the area?? Any of the retirees had male relatives visiting?? I suppose she could have been taken from the home seeing that everything was left behind.

The 53-year-old mother of two is 5’6″, weighs 120 kilos...

Well, 120kg is heavy, and would medically put her in the obese category.

However, that rules out ONE person snatching her off the street, as would be the case with a light, small, slim person or child.

I also can't imagine a van or car driving around a retirement community snatching random people.

So, I'm leaning towards some sort of medical episode in the high heat or that she's chosen to walk away.

Just adding that I'm thinking that 120 kilos is a typo on that site - the OP article shows 120 pounds (so around 54+ kilos).

Her picture seems to agree with 120 pounds:
