AZ AZ - Kay Read, 62, Tucson, Feb 2008

Based on the description of the POI, (ie, missing & rotten teeth; acne scarred face), I am willing to bet he's a meth user. Unfortunately, I don't run in that crowd or I'd be asking questions. You know someone is going to speak!

The problem, I believe, is that her name is being spelled two different ways. The correct way, I think, is "READ". The other thread is right below this one and the original threadstarter is Hoppyfrog. Perhaps a moderator could combine the two?

Ok, now I am breaking all posting etiquette and quoting myself...only to move the other thread below this one. Does anyone know how to contact a moderator?

I am smiling along with you Anita, because I had no idea how to write about the other thread, let alone combine them! :)

I am so glad there are many of us concerned about Ms Read.
She sounds like an amazing lady.
Hope that the POI is caught soon!:behindbar

Me, too! She has obviously had difficulties in her life; yet she has reached out to give to others through teaching Sunday school and donations.

I have a very sad, sick feeling that someone whom she helped in the past is the one who did this. I know her home has been searched at least three times, I hope they come up with a name for the POI.

I PMed a mod about it. It should be taken care of soon.

Thanks,

Hoppy

There is another thread about her somewhere on this forum. Here is a link to the family's website where a picture of the poi is posted.

Thank you so much! The pic where he's looking at the camera is a good one. Someone has to recognize him.

This will not turn out good. I feel badly for her family. They must be going through hell. I have two elderly sisters living in Tucson. One functions at the level of an 8 year old. They don't own a car or drive. They walk everywhere or take the bus. They are such easy targets.

I am particularly miffed today after hearing Cutts and his mommy crying and pleading for his life. I am sick and tired of people who think they have the right to take something that is not theirs to take. I hope LE catches this 🤬🤬🤬 soon.

I agree!
Regarding your sisters...are they involved in any groups that support/help them? I hate knowing that there are vulnerable adults out there, and predators just waiting to sniff them out!

Yes, my sisters are involved in groups and are quite socially active. The oldest one that takes care of my disabled sis has always walked around with rose colored glasses. That's her biggest problem right there! We have tried for decades to get her a car and a drivers license. She's never driven and has no desire to. I probably shouldn't focus so much on the car thing. It didn't help poor Kay much.

Thank goodness the weather here is overall very nice, so walking and bus riding isn't such a hassle. I am also glad, for your sisters sake, that they have a strong social network, as well.

The POI is shown in a jacket...I wonder if the jacket could possibly be Ms. Read's.

I hope the cops have gone through all her records...did she play bingo at the church where she taught Sunday school...could the POI have been there?

I keep thinking that his outfit could be a work "uniform", such as a bagger at a grocery store or food service of some sort.

I really wanted to attend, but had family obligations.

This poor family; they are (like any family of a missing person) so desperate to believe she's still alive and wanting to find her. :(

I wish I could personally search, but with small children, it's just not possible without knowing in advance when a search will occur. I am in contact with a local blogger who went out and searched at one point, I have never heard of any searches until after they'd been done. I'd contact the tip line to give them my random thoughts about where she could be, but at the same time, don't want to flood their resources with my "guesses".

For instance, have they had cadaver dogs search the property of nearby storage units? The reason that occurs to me is that we've had a few cases these last two years of bodies being stored in them. Also, the "psychic" that inspired the t.v. show (Allison Something-or-other) is in Phoenix and supposedly helps LE up there. Perhaps the TPD could call and see if she has any suggestions.

Any ideas for me guys? This case is haunting me...probably because she's close, but also because she is/was such a good person but at the same time is/was so vulnerable.

Here is another missing woman from the same area. She has a physical disablity as well with a handicap plate on her car. She disappeared after leaving church last Tuesday. No details other than her belongings (whatever they are) have been located.

A search is underway for a woman who went missing this week on the Eastside, 66-year-old Gayle Patrick. She has a physical disability and walks with a limp.
Pima County Sheriff's Deputies are calling her disappearance suspicious, after finding some of her belongings, and no trace of her.

(snip)
Sgt. James Ogden, a department spokesman said authorities recovered some of her property within city limits, but he would not elaborate. Her vehicle, a 2001 Silver Chrysler Concorde with an Arizona handicap license plate reading DYD 69 is missing.

Not a day goes by that I don't think about Ms. Read. I check the website her family set up for her daily for updates. Her story has really touched me and I really do hope the police are closer to finding out what has happened to her so her family can at least know what happened and not keep worrying.

Jeesh! LE is saying they don't think the cases are related, but I don't know. This is the 3rd woman in our area, over 60 yrs old, missing in the last 6 months! :(
