Recovered/Located AZ - Lance Cpl. Job Wallace, 20, Camp Pendleton Marine, Surprise, 16 Sept 2019

SEP 21, 2019
A Valley man never showed for service at Camp Pendleton on Tuesday. Now his family is desperately searching for him.
[...]

Wallace's family said Job's 2004 Ford Explorer truck has been spotted near Fort Hancock, Texas, and in the Dallas area, but there's been no sign of him.

"Today we're left clueless. We have no idea where he is and why he's not home or why he's not back at Camp Pendleton."

"There's so many what ifs, but at the end of the day it's just about bringing him back."

Oh, Man.

The news here just keeps getting worse.

This memo is terrifying.
This memo is infuriating.
This memo is heartbreaking.

He reported hearing voices to at least 2 "informants," and they didn't bother to tell anyone until after he went missing?

He gave away all his belongings before leaving Pendleton, and nobody sounded an alarm?

Seriously?!?!

Things didn't need to escalate to this point.
This crisis could have been avoided.

Let's just hope it's resolved soon, and safely.

JMO.
As 99% of Law Enforcement love to say, “He is adult! He can do what he wants and go where he pleases! Nothing to see here. We have far more important things to do that chase after adults who leave voluntarily.”

Although this armed Marine with auditory hallucinations may have been fixated with stopping child traffickers when he left the base, he may now be fixated with eliminating a different group of people. The FBI should start press releases to increase recognition before tragedy occurs. Very frightening!

Agree. This is a very dangerous situation for all concerned. Recommend we all double down on the prayers for a safe outcome.

Amateur opinion and speculation

Word of caution here. I’ve been following this since it was first reported, but I was waiting on a MSM organization to pick up on it.

The Daily Beast is left leaning, but their reporting is considered mostly accurate.

The organization that first reported it is biased (to the left), but the sourcing of the information appears legitimate, as it comes from a leaked FBI memo.

Marine Abandoned Base to Target ‘Child Traffickers’ at the Border: Report

Say what??? Now that is a turn I did not see coming in a million+ years.

Me neither. I was convinced he was AWOL, but I never imagined anything like this.

I’m hoping law enforcement addresses this at some point. Apparently that document was leaked because someone at the FBI disagreed with them not putting this out there.

I gotta agree with the person who released this, the public should know.

Job Covey Wallace: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com
[...]

It’s true that many people speak highly about Wallace’s character, with one man calling him a “good Marine” he would die for in a post shared by Wallace’s mom. Stacy Wallace, his mother, called him “a proud US Marine and loyal human being” in a Facebook post...

However, the website The Young Turks now says it has obtained internal FBI documents that provide a possible new surprising twist to the story; according to those documents, which you can read in full here, federal officials were concerned that Wallace could pose a threat of violence because two unnamed sources accused him of wanting to travel to Mexico to “take out” cartel members and get rid of traffickers. Authorities have not confirmed that report.

[...]

The alert alleges that Wallace owns four weapons and they are missing: An ACR automatic rifle, a semi-automatic shotgun, a M14 rifle, and a Sig 9MM pistol. There is a warning on the alert that says it’s an information report, “not finally evaluated intelligence,” and thus it has yet to be “fully evaluated, integrated with other information, interpreted or analyzed.”

The report alleges that on the evening of September 16, 2019, Wallace “claimed to be hearing voices and indicated he wanted to get rid of child traffickers at the border.” His vehicle was photographed on the 17th at the Fort Hancock Border Patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, but as of September 18, his vehicle had not traveled into or out of Mexico.

According to the report, Wallace recently gave away or abandoned “several valuable personal items recently” and cleared all his personal belongings from his room at Camp Pendleton. “Wallace indicated he has been dissatisfied with his life in the Marine Corps and had mentioned on multiple occasions his desire to travel to Mexico to ‘take out’ cartel members and traffickers,” the report alleges.

At this point, the FBI knows if he has used his ATM card, the area where his car was spotted in Texas, etc. Someone already posted the FBI memo on the FB page.

Years ago there was a Freshman guy in college who lived in the dorms. He seemed completely normal. About the third week into school his roommate said that the guy was chewing on the desk and leaving toothmarks. The guy told him there were bugs in the desk and he was trying to get rid of them. The dorm manager took him to the health center on campus and called his parents. His parents drove up to the school, but REFUSED to believe this odd story until they showed him the desk, etc. They drove him home and he never returned to school. He had been a straight A student, looking forward to college, etc. No one ever directly heard back from him, but rumor had it that he was eventually diagnosed with Schizophrenia. He was 18 years old.

I will never forget this because I had never even heard of Schizophrenia at the time. If Job is armed, I am extremely concerned. The family never mentioned if he personally owned any guns, etc. I think this is why they are telling him on FB that no one will hurt him. Hoping for a safe return and outcome for this missing Marine.

Family searches for answers after Marine disappears

ABC/News 10 - San Diego

A Surprise police spokesman says officers took a report and have turned the matter over to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

"NCIS and our partners are working diligently to locate Lance Cpl. Wallace and bring him home safely," Kurt Thomas, special agent in charge of the NCIS Marine Corps West Field Office, said in a statement.

He urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the NCIS or local law enforcement. Wallace is 6'3" tall, about 205 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.

He was driving a 2004 silver Ford Explorer Sport Trac pickup with Arizona license plate CRF9682. "Please be on the lookout," Stacy Wallace pleaded. "Every eye matters, every share, every vehicle check, ever person matters in looking for him."

I'll be honest, I'm married to a Marine. That makes me biased. I'm also prior USAF and a RN. We've also got a son who is super diligent and hell bent on succeeding. He's a bit younger than JW. I tremble at the amount of young men I see missing. I also know that schizophrenia presents itself (statistcally) early 20's. I just wish there could be a bit of grace extended to these young men. The same that is extended to EVERY MISSING person in this forum.

.

I think they're kind of on the horns of a dilemma with this situation.

On the one hand, there's a need to alert the public to the risk if JW is in fact someone who is armed and dangerous, and to let them know if they see him not to approach him.

On the other hand, there's a need to keep JW from being further triggered if he's in the throes of a psychotic break and hearing command voices telling him to hurt people. If JW hears and/or reads news reports stating that if anyone sees him he should be considered armed and dangerous, etc., that could fuel any paranoid delusions he may be experiencing right now, and further exacerbate an already volatile situation.

Rock, meet hard place.

This would be a tough call to make re: what aspects of the situation to make public, as there's a potential risk involved, either way.

I mean, now that it's out there, officials are going to have to address it.
Hopefully, they'll do so in such a way that JW is able to hear that all his parents want is for him to come home safely.

Hopefully, he'll reach out to his parents.

I say hopefully, but I don't feel very hopeful right now.
He gave away his belongings.
That signals intent.

JMO.

Yeah, I can see that side of it. They want to find him before he decides to actually carry anything out.

Publicizing it in a way that makes him a dangerous guy, could force him to act.

Don’t want to escalate things.

He presumably has all his firearms with him, right? Or is it stated somewhere he gave those away?

I imagine (hope) he'll be found soon. IMO.

Yeah, the presumption is that he has his firearms.

He apparently gave away items from his barracks room.
