Found Deceased AZ - Lianna Lefler, 18, Prescott Valley, 28 April 2017

I have some info regarding her upbringing, why she was in foster care (I worked for the agency that provided visits for her and her bio mother), etc. I also, coincidentally, grew up Jehovahs Wittness so I can shed some light on that aspect. I'll be happy to answer any questions as long as I'm not crossing an ethical line, as I did have access to her AZ DCS report. I really just can't stop thinking about this and any ideas that my info brings to light may help in the search.

I really hope she is safe somewhere - did she meet anyone at her new job? Friend or boyfriend? Has she ever mentioned running away? Any notes left behind?

This is so sad, PV is a nice area, my husband and I drove past it when we were on our way up to the Grand Canyon in 2008.

Prescott National Forest is nearby - has that been checked out for her?

She had only worked there a week.

She is known to have problems with depression due to her childhood. She could have left, I suppose, but that day she left her debit card, ID and iPad at home. Seems like an odd thing to do.

I think they were concerned about her harming herself or someone acosting her if she were walking by herself.

I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses also, found out about her thru a friend on instagram.

If you feel you can help in the search, please send a PM to the FB search page set up by her family. They have asked for any suggestions.

i live a couple miles away from the Walmart she worked at. The closest body of water is fain lake, and it's in the opposite direction of where she was heading

Last see leaving work ... On surveillance? Alone? In a vehicle? Vehicle description? Why so few details?

She didn't have a car, didn't drive. She was walking and found on 2 different surveillance tapes. She was seen leaving Walmart, alone, and then crossing through a gas station lot (also alone). That was around 130pm IIRC.

There are few details because, well, there just isn't much to report.

Her cell phone is not pinging, so her family is assuming it is destroyed or SIM card has been removed (LE told them this).

Lianna left her shift early because she didn't feel good. She was supposed to be home around 10pm, (but I am not sure how she planned to get home?). Her Mom didn't report her missing until after 10pm that night, when she did not come home. LE told Mom that she needed to wait the 24 hr period. The family, and their congregation, gathered their own search party and have been searching since.

They are using drones to cover more of the search area.

LE did eventually take the report and have been searching for Lianna also.

She is not the type to run away, nor does her Mom think she did.

Purchasing a dark hoodie and brown knit cap before leaving work and walking in different direction makes me think she did not want to be seen on camera or recognized.A possibility she left on her own maybe met up with someone.

Is the area she was walking a good area?
I know all cities have good and bad etc, just wondering if it unusually bad area?

She started working at Walmart only 6 days before she went missing - something I find interesting.

OTHER NAMES she uses:
  • Yanna
    Nickname
  • LoZknight
    Other
  • Milanna
    Other

do the gaming sites show if she "friended" anyone recently, or if she's been on line recently?

I am not a gamer and know nothing about it, unfortunately.

Her foster mom posted that she got to Walmart a few minutes before 10 to pick her up and found out she wasn't there. She stated that Lianna was always dropped off/picked up.

I've seen in 2 different places about the direction Lianna was headed.
One said she bought a hoodie and brown cap and was NOT walking towards home.

The second said that she actually was heading in the direction of home.

Do you know which is the case? I think this makes a big difference.

Also, did Mom actually speak to Lianna in the 530pm phone call? Text? any inclination towards someone following or bothering her? unusual depression?
530pm is long after leaving Walmart around 130pm. So did she go home and leave again?

I am thinking of her and hoping there are answers soon.

Here's my theory. It's noted that she is a Jehovahs Witness. I'm very familiar with this religion. There are strict rules about dating. Maybe she meet someone and decided to leave.

I was raised JW & left (escaped is more like it) the same age Lianna is now. My thoughts immediately went to all the reasons *I* wanted to run away (and tried several times unsuccessfully) that were directly related to that particular religious aspect of my life but I wasn't sure if it could be discussed.

We lived very close to where she went missing until just recently. It wasn't bad 15+ years ago before any businesses moved in but like you said, there's good/bad every where, dangers can lurk in even the most idyllic locations -- not to mention a young lady walking alone behind a gas station is not an ideal situation :P :(

Her foster mom says she was not walking toward home, if you look at the map you'll see why. They live directly behind Walmart - you would think you'd take E Paradise Ln or St (whatever it is). But then again, who knows, as a kid do we always know the quickest way? I don't think I did. But maybe she had walked there numerous times with family members and they always went the same way.

The foster mother said she texted her mom (I'm thinking that means Lianna's birth mom) and simply said "I love you" at 5:30pm.

That's an excellent point about going home and then leaving again. I'm going to mention that to the foster mother.

the reason I think she went home after work is because her foster mother has mentioned quite a few times that it was significant she left her iPad, kindle, debit card and ID at home. It's doubtful that anyone would take all of their electronics to work. I mean, not unheard-of, but unlikely.

They seem to be asking for help, but not giving as much information as they could.

Maybe they feel that if she was suicidal, no one would look? When it's probably the opposite.

Can you also ask why she was considered "in danger" and not just missing?

TIA

I'm not sure how productive that would be, especially since someone told the family yesterday on FB that this thread may be a good place to go for help/suggestions. And since her foster mom and a lot of her friends have the exact opposite opinion/experience of being raised as a Witness (as do i) I believe at a time like this, that's not helpful.

People have already suggested that the family check her devices for any communication with people the family didn't know. And they've done that.

It was actually her debit card and ID that caused the red flag I believe - she doesn't have a Kindle, just an ipad.

Truthfully, I think part of the problem with the information is they are all out searching every day until dark. They haven't really stopped to coordinate all the info and make a timeline, etc.

I'll double check, but I believe it was because Apple could tell the phone wasn't just turned off or had a dead battery but it was actually disabled.

Also, that text to her birth mom was something she normally would do, so not unusual.

She purchased a dark hoodie and ski cap, sounds like she planned to run away.

They said it was chilly that day, so if she knew she'd be walking home she may have decided she needed more than the short sleeves she had on.

There was a post a few minutes ago on the search site that said they were going to compose a post today with all the info they have.

But she didn't walk home.
