From what I can tell by looking at maps (without knowing specifics)...it would have been quite a long, difficult hike for her to get to the canyon from her home, which implies her body was dumped. That along with the fact they locked the community down after her body was found means it was foul play, IMO. I will be surprised if she just accidentally wandered off. Hope we get an update soon and this is solved quickly for the family's sake.
Where are you seeing that she was found at a canyon? From everything I've read, LE hasn't released the location where she was found.
Indeed they do not say but Search efforts were focused in the Coalmine Canyon area.

Not much out there, but the FBI is now offering a reward. Interesting on how it says “those responsible” and not “person responsible”.
Reward:
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death of Maleeka "Mollie" Boone.

No, if the area she was found in is a part of the Navajo Nation, then it's under the Navajo Nation Police, as the Navajo Nation has tribal sovereignity. The police may ask the FBI to help them.I think since tribal land is federal land it will be the FBI

I read several of Tony Hillerman's novels following two Navajo Police officers back in the 1970s and 1980s, there are 17 books in total, and they were interesting reading, a (for me) totally different culture.
