GUILTY AZ - Michael, 44, & Tina Careccia, 42, Maricopa, 22 June 2015 - #3 *Arrest*

I'm trying to put myself in the scenario of someone telling me at my own family party, they have knowledge of who was involved with burning my property down.

First of all, I am not going to have anyone sit amongst my family and continue to enjoy our home knowing this, and on the land where the arson took place no less. I'd be mad as hell and demand info on the spot or get out. And if you're drunk sharing this info with me, I'd take it with a grain of salt, contact LE to make a report of possible knowledge/connection. And maybe speak to you again about it when you're sober and can speak rationally. I just find it hard to believe, sorry. It doesn't make sense to me at all. JMO

I totally agree w you Foothills.
However, on that note - I noticed in many of the pictures of M&T - M often had a drink in his hand... tho we don't know what that drink was, but IMO people aren't usually holding drinks in their hands in pictures unless holding alcohol since they are protective of their sauce. AND it was a party in their own home & one to celebrate fathers (M). So while we don't have proof there was drug use w M& we don't even have proof of alcohol use...

But at a party guessing alcohol use /meth w JV... lethal concoction if burned up properties came up in conv....so kind of a wildcard of emotions that night that we could never imagine..

-wonder where JV child was during all of this...thought he brought a child to the party??~ not asking anyone ..just making a statement in my mind about the fam statment of JV bringing a child w him~ What a way to be a role model huh?

Since it was mentioned that JV and Felix spent some time "getting their story straight' I really hope LE is putting serious effort into getting the truth out of these two. Regardless of whether or not drugs were involved on M& T's part, they certainly did not deserve this. I hope that justice is served to the fullest extent. And it seems to me that there should be some serious consequences for not reporting a double murder right away. I don't care if you have your own skeletons to hide or not, a decent person does not witness that kind of heinous crime without reporting it. There are silent tip lines here that are completely anonymous. So no excuses in my book. JMO!

What statute or law is broken in the State of AZ if someone knows about or witnesses a murder and doesn't report it?

I don't think he did prior work for them because the trailer that burned had no electricity or gas. It's mentioned in the article that it had neither and was was felt to be set for that reason, because with no electrical or gas involvement it wouldn't spontaneously combust.

Also, the Careccia's trailer was not the only structure burned last Fall. Maricopa had a serial arsonist that targeted several structures/homes in the area.

I am wondering if they used the trailer to store their household goods.
This article mentions:

" “All of the arson cases have involved vacant property or vacant homes.” "

http://www.copamonitor.com/news/local/article_7dfc1af2-5baa-11e4-836d-2799a43fbf32.html

Sorry if this has already been posted, but just some idle speculation I'll throw out here :)

The talk of meth and all the arson fires makes me wonder if someone was cooking meth and setting fires to cover up the evidence (or having it get out of control and explode), like this info:

Proprietors of meth labs often will set fire to their property in order to destroy evidence against them, and booby traps are not uncommon.

http://firelink.monster.com/training/articles/5124-how-to-spot-a-meth-lab

It's just that those fires have been bothering me. Serial arsonist, or serial meth cooker?

You can either get rid of the house or defile its memory... I guess he chose the latter~
He is pretty young, 38 right?? wonder about the parents.... no longer in that home.... . Would be interesting to know the history there...

Fireinside.... do you have any thoughts here?
Getting into a fist fight with our father might be a horrible memory for me or you but he didn't act like it was that big of deal at the time.

Of all the times I had been to his house I never remember his parents being there. I met his mom a couple times but never his dad. I even took my dad over to his house for a horse shoe tournament one time. My dad is as shocked as I am.
Does anyone have a picture of Felix or know what his status is?

I haven't seen a pic - would love to if anyone has one. I haven't heard any talk of him since JV's arrest, but apparently he's not been arrested. I'm thinking they have him in protective custody since he'll be their star - and only - witness.....that's the only sense I can make of him not being behind bars.

Hello-new to WS.

I too get the sense that JV is responsible for the arson spree. It could be that all of the arson victims owed him money?

Fireinside, I'm glad that you have WS as an outlet. If you still live in the area or know people who do, is there a general consensus regarding what really happened? For example, do most people think that drugs were involved? Do they think that it was a combination of factors such as drug use plus an argument concerning the fires or some kind of flirtation between JV and TC? Or concerning debts or the quality of JV's electrical work? Or are opinions just all over the place? Just wondering...

I feel that there is so much more to this story.

I don't think there are any photos of Felix in MSM.

He was one of the 3 melon field workers in the take-down shown on live TV. The other 2 were released, he was taken into custody for questioning.
That's all I know.

This is exactly what im thinking a METH COOKER.
And not small time either.
I think when the smoke clears we will see a big time drug operation was going on here.

Thanks for letting me on. I just want to give some history on me before I begin. I am a 20 year resident of the Thunderbird Farms area with family ties here since the early 80's. I live a block away from the Dugan residence that MC & TC were residing at. I drove by the property multiple times a week to visit friends or run to the convenience store. I have met most of the family at some point in time, their kids went to school with my kids. I am in no way a friend of any of the parties, just an acquaintance or know of them from the neighborhood. With that said, here is what I know.

The layout out here is - the properties are 3.3 acres lots, no sidewalks, no street lights, no traffic lights. Rural. We have one family restaurant/bar/grill/pool hall all rolled into one, 2 convenience stores and that is it for 15 miles. Our blocks are 1/2 mile long. So a walk around the block is 4 miles.

We are in the middle of agricultural fields. Mostly melons, corn, cotton and cattle feeds. The farms employ hundreds of migrant workers to work in the fields. Who else would be picking melons in 115 degree heat for 8 hours. Break ins, alcohol, loitering and many other petty crimes are the norm out here. However, those of us that live out here typically don't have many issues with the field workers, as most of us take security precautions such as locked gates, dogs and firearms. I have felt safe for my entire time out here.

The fires of 2014 - All the fires were on vacant, unoccupied dwellings. These buildings have been vacant or even unlivable for many years. Some of the properties that were torched were simply untrimmed palm trees/brush with out a building on them or involved. There were about 10 separate properties burned, but the "fire starter" would relight some of the structures multiple times until everything on the property was burned. He lit one place up at least 5 times in one week. The fires continued after MC's property was burned. While PCSO said they had a lead, nothing was ever told to the community about apprehending someone in connection to the fires. We all had a suspicion as to who was responsible, as one guy was seen at nearly all the fires on a bike and no one from the community knew him.

MC and TC's property - Their garage was nothing more than a concrete pad with the framing up for the garage. No walls/roof/electric. It was started and sat like that for many months with no change. The "trailer" that they stored their personal belongings in was an older single-wide trailer that surely wouldn't be livable from the looks of it going passed it on the road. Did not appear to have power running to any of it from the power poles. The burnt remains for the garage frame still stands.

The Dugan "compound" was the party house in the neighborhood. Having parties nearly weekly and often several times during the week. My kids have been there for the parties that included under age drinking and at least the smoking of weed. They are not as innocent as the family is trying to make them out to be. You have seen pix of MC and Luke with beers in their hands...Luke is 17. One of my children went with a friend to a party where kids (high schoolers) were playing beer pong and there was a free flowing keg for the kids. All, of course, supervised by the adults of the household and some of the other kids from the neighborhood's parents. The kids were told if they get drunk, they were welcome to stay in one of the 3-4 campers located on the property. Luckily, my kid and friend have common sense and came home.

JV had a good reputation with his electrical clients from what I know. I had seen his company truck at the Dugan's many times over the last year...sometimes very late into the night. I am really not too sure of the relationship prior to the fires. As an electrician, I guess he was a good guy. But my kids know of him as "Nacho the drug dealer". Ask any 20-something kid in the area that has dabbled in drugs and you will get the same answer. One of my kids is not an angel and when I told them about this, I got the reply to stay out of the conversation/search/mention of the situation and that I did not need my name associated in any fashion. I heeded the warning.

The people that I know and still talk to don't know anymore than you and I. They are all stunned as well. For some of them this is the last straw and they want to move out of that area. It has always been a little sketchy out there but when a kid you went to elementary school with does something so heinous it hits closer to home. One of my friends said she doesn't even feel safe in her own home anymore. No one saw this coming.

Respectfully snipped -

Thanks for letting me on. I just want to give some history on me before I begin. I am a 20 year resident of the Thunderbird Farms area with family ties here since the early 80's. I live a block away from the Dugan residence that MC & TC were residing at. I drove by the property multiple times a week to visit friends or run to the convenience store. With that said, here is what I know.

This is a pic that was shared to me a while ago by one of my kids. I don't know...but they both look pretty high!View attachment 77891

Not that you didn't have credibility throughout your post, but the fact that you attached a pic made you a rock star. Thanks for the insight.

There's no question that Mike and Tina didn't deserve to be murdered - but at this point, I'm really leaning toward the fact that it did not appear that they were necessarily living the upstanding lifestyle that we'd have liked to believe. Unfortunately, that lifestyle may have contributed to their deaths.

JMO, of course.

Where there's smoke... and a picture of 2 people smokin' it up ....

It is what it is.

Drugs often kill, one way or another. It's a slippery slope. And while murder is never legal (murder = the intentional taking of life, with malice), and illegal acts will be punished to the fullest extent of the law, it's hard not to see the connections that lead to slippery slopes.

No...no one should ever lose their life by the hands of someone else for any reason! But I do feel that the lifestyle that was lived put them in a position they should have never gotten into. If you met them in a casual situation away from home, you would find MC & TC to be very fun, social and educated people. You would not have ever thought them to be involved with any drugs...drinking a lot...yes. I do know more, but to protect my identity, I prefer to simply add info as I feel comfortable. And yes, the things I post are all my personal observations, opinions and prospective or info that has been verified or shared from a reliable source that has been verified by my inquiring mind.

One thing that does have me concerned...why would someone admit to murdering two people? Some speculation around town is that JV is taking the fall for someone who is "bigger" than him or protecting their "business". Conversation is that since JV's arrest, cocaine and meth are nearly non existent in the area. If he were a small time dealer, there would be other dealer's picking up the slack. JMO

Considering the fact that it seems like I can hardly turn around these days without hearing about another massive drug bust in Arizona, I would not be surprised at all if JV was small beans in a bigger... bean patch. It seems like he confessed pretty quickly, and from the personal insight that Fireinside has provided about JV, that in and of itself seems a bit odd.

From the few pictures I've seen, it does seem like Tina and Mike liked to have a good time and were fun people. I guess a good time can be a fine line between "fun" and FUN.

Criminals occasionally confess. Why? Many reasons. Sometimes from a good interrogation or the right questions being asked. Sometimes as part of a deal to get a lesser sentence (LWOP instead of DP). A confession is considered "direct evidence." That and an "eye witness to the crime." This case has both forms of direct evidence. And there will be circumstantial evidence as well.

The bottomline: this killer was caught, confessed, and will be tried and convicted. That's always the goal.

The rest of it cannot be known to a 100% degree. Why do people kill other people? Lots of reasons.
