So happy to hear GPD is working with Silent Witness!

Hopefully, if there is a person(s) out there who have been scared to come forward. This will encourage them to do so. Your identity will always remain anonymous, even when getting paid the reward - Guaranteed!

Nick Cordova's widow wants Gilbert Town Council to intervene in the police investigation
Widow Alysha Cordova said the case is on its fourth detective, her family has been failed and told council members to intervene.

“You guys oversee the Gilbert Police Department. It is your responsibility to make sure that they do their jobs. That they investigate. That they pursue the truth. And they are not doing that. They have proved their incompetence to do so,” she said.

The department’s competency has been questioned since late 2023 when reports exposed that unchecked teen violence by a group called the "Gilbert Goons" preceded the fatal beating of Preston Lord.

Cordova’s mother, Theresa, responded to the chief’s comments during the Town Council meeting.

“With all due respect to Gilbert PD showing up today and making a statement, words are just words we’ve heard for the last five years,” she said.

Can’t say I blame them, maybe it’s time for some oversight by an outside agency.

Absolutely! This is solvable. Someone new needs to take the reins on this case and get it done. It makes me sad when victims have to fight so hard for justice.

GILBERT, AZ — Next month will mark five years since Nick Cordova was shot and killed inside his Gilbert air conditioning business.

In May of 2020, Nick was on FaceTime with his kids when his business partner told police two men came into the business.

The Cordova family continues to have different questions about the investigation, since years have passed with no arrests. In the last few months, they have been making "Noise for Nick", hoping it will lead to answers in his case.

"It's been five years of a nightmare," said Nick's mom, Theresa Cordova. "It doesn’t get easier."

This is definitely one of the most solvable cases I've ever seen. Get the suspects face in front of as many people as possible and it's probably solved in no time. I'm guessing there are people who already know who that guy is but are scared to say something but hopefully someone will talk one day.

Has a federal agency ever been involved in this investigation, I don't remember?

This should be a good case for facial technology and I’d think it’s been explored.

Frustrated with the progress of the cold case, the family is now considering hiring a private investigator. “Honestly, I just feel kind of defeated,” Alysha said. “The Gilbert Police Department had not done Nick justice. There are so many unanswered questions.”

That’s why Nick’s family continues to gather. They want to keep his story alive as the search for his killer or killers continues. “We’re going to continue to keep pushing forward for justice for him,” Alysha said.

Interesting, it was resolved last year and dismissed - because Sweetman finally conceded and split the policy payout 50/50 ($8M) with Alysha. He initally offered her $500k.

It appears from the Docket, the Civil Complaint was filed 8/31/2020 and was dismissed 5/1/2024. I'm sorry that in those four years, they were not able to develop any evidence to lead to a criminal complaint against a suspect.

Particularly because IMO, one of the parties to this legal filing, had a previous large death benefit payout. Some might view this as a pattern …

Oh I forgot to mention, he had Alysha initiate the insurance payout shortly after Nick’s death. He didn’t do that himself.

Newbie here. Is there a file with documents and pictures related to this case? I can’t seem to find anything.

No, you’ll have to read back through the thread.

Crazy . I have question ,if LE is waiting for him to get the money to make an arrest.
They would get to seize that money.
Any day now.
I really thought this case would be solved fast . HAS 20/20 done an episode on his case?

Anyone else find it strange that the social media sites that are dedicated to trying to solve Nick's murder rarely post the picture of the suspect? You would think that that would be every other post but they seem to rarely put the suspects' picture on there.
