'TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Lee Allyn can’t help but smile remembering his mom, Norma Jean Jay.
“A nice, caring person,” he described her. “She would always carry around canned food and actually, for like, homeless people. With the easy-open lids, and hand that out to them… She was an artist, so she would actually teach art classes or even, I remember doing art projects and things like that with her when I was a kid. Little bit of a hippie at heart.”
'In July 2006, when she was the victim of what sheriff's officials called a "very violent" homicide. Early the morning of July 17, 2006, a neighbor called 911 to report Jay's manufactured home was on fire. When firefighters extinguished the blaze, they found Jay's nude body lying on her bed. She'd been stabbed repeatedly. The fire likely was set to cover up the homicide.'
Cold Case: Siblings who met after DNA test still searching for mother’s murderer
Norma Jay was killed inside her home in 2006. Her family is hoping her cold case can heat up again and justice can be served.
