Upon searching information on the bus ticket, the city in which she came from is close to the Guatemalan border, is it possible she was from there originally and was attempting to travel up and into mexico?

Original

According to wiki:
Tapachula de Córdova y Ordóñez, simply known as Tapachula, is a city and municipality located in the far southeast of the state of Chiapas in Mexico, near the Guatemalan border and the Pacific Ocean.

I wonder if some searching in Guatemala might reveal who this girl was? Just a thought.

Could someone name the current exclusion list for this Jane Doe? I'm not from the US so I can't see the exclusions by NamUs.

Ooh, this case shakes me to my core. I comment on cases a lot of the time where I have a connection to them, have seen them, they have a relatable story or coincidence with someone I know.

I have a friend with that exact name. Areli Gomez Gomez. She looks so similar to the reconstruction of this poor soul. She’s a little smaller though at 4’9” and 80-85 pounds. She’s originally from Tapachula as well, the same city where this bus ticket was purchased. She’s a similar age to our Doe as well. I am in my late teens (born between 2003 and 2007) and Areli (my friend) is around 2 years younger than me.

I was absolutely shaken when I discovered this case. The similarities make me want to cry. I feel so sorry for this poor soul.

However, I do think her name is in fact Areli Gomez Gomez. Areli is not a terribly common name but it’s definitely heard of, so it seems a bit odd to use it in an alias. Also, why would she need an alias for a trip 100% in Mexico? I can understand when crossing the border.

She was so beautiful. It’s a shame that she left us so soon. I hope her true identity is uncovered at some point. She seems like she was an illegal immigrant. 100% illegal immigrant to me. Tapachula is near the Guatemalan border. I think she may not be Mexican, but rather potentially Guatemalan. I would check to see if there are any missing persons databases in Mexico and Guatemala that could yield some information and results for this girl’s identity. Hoping she can get her name back soon! I find it interesting she has had 2 teeth removed. She could be on the older end of her age range. Did they check for wisdom teeth? If they are completely absent she could be closer to about 18 or 19. Although I had mine taken out at 12 along with 6 other permanent teeth. It’s a pretty distinctive feature of mine. Having just 22 teeth at least for me is useful for ID’ing me if I ever end up like this. Poor thing.

since she was found on a desert trail and had a ticket to a city in Mexico, its very likely she's undocumented and was trying to immigrate to the states, but unfortunately died likely due to hyperthermia (opposite of hypothermia) or dehydration. Since this was during the summer (+ in Arizona) the heat exhaustion must've kicked in, and that's how she may have died. She does look very Central American to me, rather than Mexican.

Her PM photo is a bit disturbing on its own, since it shows her with extremely clouded eyes that appear a little swollen, likely from the body naturally bloating after death. Judging by the clouding of her corneas, she must've been dead for a few weeks before she was ever found. Her teeth also look a little bit crooked (from what I saw). Her hair was longer and not in the style depicted in the NCMEC reconstruction, very free flowing. I'm not sending it here since it is a bit graphic.

I hope she gets her name back soon, man. I really hope she does. her case is so sad.

Has anyone found a list or index of some kind of missing people from central America? I found one for missing people from Mexico but I think there are a lot more missing than are listed on it.

Unfortunately, no. I don't think there is from what I've googled.

For this case specifically, I think its similar to Maria Mendez: what I mean is that the name on her fraudulent Mexican documents was her real name, but since they were fake, they couldn't confirm a person with her name there since Maria was actually from San Marcos, Guatemala. Areli Gomez Gomez could in fact be her real name but because we don't know where shes' originally from its going to be hard to get a record of who she is.

for the price tag, is it in USD or in Mexican Pesos? Guatemala uses the Quetzal so that wouldn't make much sense.

Tijuana is very close to the border of California, so she may have gotten there and crossed into the state into San Diego, which borders Tijuana heavily. But as I did more research, there's a US Consulate located in Tijuana, and that was the possible location she was heading to, but I'm assuming she didn't have any documents and its why she didn't head there.

For the pricing of the ticket: If it were in pesos, 1000 of them would be around 51.50$, but if they were in Quetzals it would have been 130 USD. Must've been expensive to get to Tijuana.

I translated part of the ticket. It says it grants travel insurance but what even is that?

So "Executive Border Transport" is what it says on the top.

If she was in Tijuana and hypothetically walked to green valley, that would take approximately 240 hours by foot. that's ten days!

Is it possible these two could be related?

Oh, someone online knows this doe's sister (please note I don't know for sure, I can't confirm) and she didn't want to cooperate in the case at all. So there goes our only lead to getting her identified.

Me and another person really tried to ask them to reach out to the sister to report it to the police and possibly get her identified, but unfortunately we didn't get a response.
