I'm not good at rule outs but has Jacqueline Ann Gasparian been considered? The last date of contact was July 1 1970 and she was a smoker of Pall Malls. Height is only a few cm off and you wouldn't be able to tell about the scar on her abdomen. It was posted in a Facebook group this morning and thought I'd mention it.

I'm not a local. Maybe someone who is would have more info about this but here's what I learned from wikipedia. Sun Tran - Wikipedia
Tucson Rapid Transit Co. operated streetcars and then buses up until 1965 when it changed ownership and its name became Tucson Transit Corp. Then in 1969 the city acquired it, changing its name to City of Tucson Transit Co., then to SunTran in 1975.

This suggests the transfer ticket was from before 1965 if the information is accurate. The UID could have been keeping it for sentimental reasons (not sure what that would be), or the remains date back to the early 60s, consistent with the coin dates.

In NamUs it says: "Incomplete skeletal remains and associated personal effects found by a member of the public in 1972. Case number ML00-0751 assigned in 2000 when reported to the medical examiner."

It's not clear to me exactly where the remains and effects were between 1972 and 2000, maybe in an evidence locker? Or did I miss something? And has anyone found any related newspaper stories?

Scrolling through previous posts looking for an article of when UID was found April 1972. I didn’t see one posted but found this one below in the newspaper archives.

Remains were found near the U.S. Air Force radar station.

Additional remains (hair and leg bone) were found 3 miles south of a Forest Service lookout station.

The yellow flight bag is also referred to as a “leather purse or case” in the article.

PMI was originally estimated at 8 months to 2 years.

Can anyone weigh in with some thoughts on some of my thinking here re: a potential comparison to Donnis 'Pinky' Redman? She has NOT been compared to this Jane Doe, as neither show up on the comparisons page for either on NAMUS. DNA is available for Pinkey and looks like the skeletal remains of Jane Doe are with the Pima County Medical Examiner, so DNA extraction is probably likely?

Mt. Lemmon Jane Doe and Pinkey have the same height and weight range and Mt. Lemmon age range is 16-27 (from skeletal remains). Pinkey was 14, but depending on when she went through puberty, I think her age should not preclude her here. Pinkey disappeared in March 1958 and this Doe has an estimated year of death from 1959-1965.

Pictures of Pinkey show her with brown hair (looks almost like maybe she dyed it blonde?) that seems shorter than her peers and could potentially be considered curly or wavy if she had a perm or curled her hair? Looking at her official missing photo, she clearly wore lipstick, which would make sense re: the Pagoda Red tube of Avon lip color that was found with Mt. Lemmon Jane Doe. She also was last seen wearing yellow sweater--the corresponding bag here is a yellow flight bag...maybe a favorite color or matching her bag/purse to her outfit?

NAMUS just updated the file with new photos of the coins associated with Mt. Lemmon Jane Doe and NONE of the coins (with the exception of one that I can't read thoroughly) indicate a date AFTER 1957. Doesn't sound like these photos are the sum total of the coins the Jane Doe had on her, as newspaper article at the time discovery said they amounted to $1.93. However, all of the dates are between 1947 and 1957, including an image of a Walking Liberty half dollar, which was only minted between 1916 to 1947. Is there any confirmation that there is AT LEAST one coin that is dated to 1959? Or is the latest coin FROM 1958, going into circulation UP to 1959? If no 1959 coin exists, this can throw the timeline back to include early 1958...although we don't know what happened to Pinkey, so perhaps she was alive longer than the year she went missing?

Williams, AZ is where Pinkey's boyfriends car was found in early March 1958 (can't find any official confirmation on this, newspaper articles etc.) but it's a relatively straight shot on Route 89 from Summerhaven/Mt Lemmon to Williams (looking at a Rand McNally 1958 Arizona Highway map). While I-17 wasn't made yet, it's not impossible to move between these locations solely via highway.

The location where Mt Lemmon Jane Doe was found seems to be the US Air Force Radar Station on Mt. Lemmon, per a newspaper article at the time of discovery (April 1972). This site, while seemingly remote, had paved road access as of 1956 when it opened. Immediately due south of the radar station is a Lookout Tower, where more bones and hair was found in 1972, as well as multiple hiking trails. The additional location of the bones and hair could also be animal scatter. Unsure if the hiking trails were there in the late 1950s, but clearly Mt. Lemmon was high in altitude, and perhaps a good place to stargaze, see the city landscape, picnic, go on late night drives etc.?

The Jane Doe had a Tucson Rapid Transit Zone 3 ticket in her bag--this area of the city included the Southeast section, which at the time (per 1950 newspaper clipping), Zone 3 was considered anything "all points south of Drexel Ave, east of Swan Road and within Davis-Monthan AFB" (there was nothing headed north in Zone 3). Interesting that the bus transfer ticket included the AFB region and this Jane Doe was found directly near an Air Force radar installation.

There is definitely a lot of missing information re: Pinkey, but since her boyfriends car was found in Arizona within driving distance of this Jane Doe, combined with some of the physical similarities and dated timelines, I feel as though Pinkey could be a potential match.

Wholly agree. I think Pinky being described as blond is/was misleading. To me at least, from the well-known picture she's not a natural blond. Her skin tone doesn't mesh, and the color is the brassy. I'd say it was a home bleach job, although Marilyn Monroe was brassy and not platinum at one time so maybe that was the goal. Regardless, if she were running away with her (18 yr old) boyfriend it's entirely possible she lopped off her hair to be less recognizable. It may have grown out or hadn't been blond in the first place when they left - it looks like a summer outfit picture, pre-March weather.

The mystery would be how and why she ended up where the remains were found. If the boy who found the remains was hiking, she well may have been too (with or without her boyfriend). This only proves that while a remote area, it's possible. The bf may be in the vicinity as well...if one died of exposure the other might go for help and also succumb some distance away. IMO she wasn't dressed for a lengthy wilderness excursion, which could factor in. If it was short, could she or her bf have known someone working at the radar station? A pit-stop visit became permanent through misadventure or foul play? If it's known whether bf's car back in Williams was operable or not I missed it. Williams would be prime stop on I-40 even now, and certainly then, but from there, where? It's possible they dumped it knowing LE might be looking for it by then. They may have hitched or taken a bus from there, intending to start a new life and X amount of time went by before this Doe died. I'd lean towards soon after rather than years.
