Scars on stomach from bowel reconstruction surgery at age 7 or 8. Victim suffered brain damage from anesthesia.

tennis shoes. Possibly white Converse All Stars.


Circumstances: Rudy Morales went missing in the early 1970s. He was living at a group home in the area of 12th Street and Roosevelt and left on a bicycle. He was never seen or heard from again. Rudy suffers from a medical condition that may make it difficult for him to communicate.

If Rudy's brain damage was caused by his surgery aged 7 or 8 then I'm guessing it's unlikely he ever went to school after that so there will be no school year book photos to be found.

Presumably the organisation that ran the group home would have taken photos periodically as part of recording his development and growth. If he was reported missing, and even given the time he should have been as a clearly vulnerable adult, it's possible that one of those photos would have been made public to aid in the search for him.

Could Rudy Morales be the Brawley, California John Doe?

Rudy was last seen in Phoenix, Arizona in the early 1970's when he rode his bike away from his group home, and John Doe was found alive in Imperial County, California in 1979, and he died there in a nursing home facility in 2011. The two locations are around 200 or so miles apart, but there were several years between Rudy's disappearance in the early 1970's and JD's appearance in 1979, so anything could have happened in that time.

Rudy had brain damage that made it difficult for him to communicate, and John Doe's description says he has a "history of mental retardation and therefore remained unidentified for the rest of his life".

Both men are Hispanic with brown eyes. Rudy had brown hair, & JD has gray hair, but he was an older man by 2011, so that's understandable.

Rudy is listed as 5'6" and JD is listed as 5'4", but people can shrink with age.

JD was listed as 60 to 70 when he died in 2011. Rudy would have been 67 in 2011, so the age matches too.

Scarring doesn't match though. Rudy had a scar on his abdomen, but JD's profile doesn't say that he did, but I don't know how much that could have faded in 40 years. JD has a scar on his arm, but he could have acquired that in the 40 years since he went missing.
