''BUCKEYE, Ariz. - Officials with the Buckeye Police Department say the largest reward in department history is being offered for information leading to the arrest of suspect or suspects responsible for a double murder that happened over a decade ago.

According to a statement, the murders happened in 2007, and the victims, identified as Santana Monique Armijo (then 21) and Michael Martinez (then 28) were found just north of the I-10 and Verrado Way.''

"It is believed the two were killed somewhere else and dumped at that location," read a portion of the statement.

Officials say in 2020, following a department reorganization, a Major Crimes Unit was created and tasked with re-examining unsolved homicides. A $25,000 reward has now been added in addition to the $1,000 already being offered by Silent Witness for information leading to an arrest''.

''Armijo's murder came 11 months after her brother died while serving the army.

"Please use your voice. I am begging you as mother, please call anything in," said Armijo's mother, Tina Armijo. "I lost my son fighting for our country. Let's fight back. Let's get these persons. What they deserve is justice. Don't let them harm another family."

Buckeye police offer reward in double homicide cold case

''Hall authorized the expenditure of $25,000 seized through the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) to be added to the $1,000 being offered by Silent Witness in this case.

“This is the largest award Buckeye has offered,” Hall said.

“Michael was a father, a brother and a son and Santana was a mother, a daughter and a sister. The families want answers. We want answers,” the Buckeye chief said.

“Someone knows exactly what happened to Michael and Santana. We need them to come forward.”

At the time she was killed, Armijo lived in Tolleson with two children, one 3 years old and the other 11 months old.

Family members were present at a news conference to announce the reward.

“I’m praying. Any little thing can be so helpful,” said Tina Armijo, Santana’s mother, wiping away tears.

“I am begging you as a mother. Please call. ... Don’t let them harm another family.”

Information regarding this case can be submitted anonymously by calling Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS—or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers—or online at silentwitness.org. ''

''Little is known about Martinez, except he’s from California and his sister did not want to share much about him, according to Donna Rossi, Buckeye Police spokeswoman.

A contractor found the two just north of Interstate 10, about 10 to 15 feet west of Verrado Way, and police believe they were killed elsewhere and dumped. Rossi said it didn’t appear the suspects tried to cover the bodies.

Buckeye detective Robert DeMaro said there have been a few tips over the years, but none have panned out.

“We know there’s somebody out there who knows something and that’s why we are here today,” DeMaro said. “There were so many people involved in the case at the time. It is hard to narrow down the focus to the person who actually committed the crimes.”

Santana was my 2nd cousin. My cousin Tina, Santana's mom, deserves justice as she lost two children in the same year. FYI my cousin Santos, Santana's brother, died fighting for our country in Afghanistan. Thank you for keeping this thread going.

Welcome to Ws @azolivas, happy to see that you found this thread, although very sad about the circumstances that brought you here.
Hope justice comes soon for these young people taken before their time.

Hall said Armjio’s brother was killed while serving in the Army in Iraq 11 months before her death.

“The loss of a son and a daughter in a year is a loss that is so overwhelming and more grief than anybody should ever endure,” he said. “That is why I have authorized the expenditure of $25,000 to be added to the already $1,000 offered by Silent Witness for information leading to an arrest in this case.”

Hall said it’s the largest reward ever offered in Buckeye.

Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 480-WITNESS (948-6377), 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish, or online at silentwitness.org.''

I drove past these 2 people laying on side of road that day. I went to Pulte Homes construction site and told someone to call police. I couldn't believe it. They were completely naked and obviously dumped there. I did stop but didn't get out of Pulte Fuel truck I was driving. They were on oposite side of road to me and it looked like they had not been there long. It was early morning ..
