Chief Williams announced Wednesday that police took the suspect into custody. They identified him as 36-year-old Nathan Sutherland, a caretaker and licensed practical nurse at the facility.
Sutherland was reportedly responsible for caring for the victim at the time the sexual assault occurred.
Police say DNA tests from employees reportedly helped police find a match between Sutherland and the baby. Officials took samples from Sutherland on Tuesday.
He was taken into custody and will be booked into jail Wednesday, police say. He is expected to be charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of vulnerable adult abuse.
On January 22, they got a hit after matching the baby’s DNA to Sutherland’s.
Wow I wonder if he was still working there while the investigation was going on. I only Read a couple articles and none mentioned it. Imagine walking into work everyday knowing they are looking for you but kept going so not to raise any red flags with your departure (or trying to stay in the know with the investigation)
That sure was a quick turnaround! I didnt Think we’d see an arrest for years considering the amount of dna they took.
I already checked the jail roster but a DOB is required for Maricopa County Jail.waiting for his mug shot!
