He often called in sick. I think in an attempt to avoid DNA swabs. Must have been breaking out in a cold sweat.

Ita. He had to know what this was coming to. Wonder what his phone might reveal?
This truly is nauseating. Makes me sick.

My experience is they don’t hire the A team to work overnights usually. :( MOO

Exactly.
I am not oppposed to males in the nursing field. However, I am opposed to a male performing intimate procedures, alone, with a female patient. Especially, if the door is closed (guessing) & he seems to have a particular interest in a specific female patient.
Oh how I wish someone had caught him in the act.
But....he would’ve claimed she molested him, I suppose.
Moo

Not all defense attorneys are “bad,” IMO.

I know, I never said they were. I just find this defense despicable. The defense attorney I work for is an amazing man. He never turns a client away if he believes in their case. About half his clients really have no way to pay him. However if he believes justice isn't being served he takes the case. It's extraordinary to work with such a wonderful human being.

I hope Nathan is made to bend over and take a Louisville Slugger a few times a day when he gets to prison.

I am so sorry! I didn’t mean to imply or insinuate that you did at all.

The attorney you work for does indeed sound like a great human being: Someone who does the right thing. And I’m sure there are many more defense attorneys like him out there.

It’s those like the one defending NS that give all of them a bad name, IMO.

I’m just glad NS gets an attorney and a “fair” trial. Buh bye, for good.
He might get away with a crime like this in Haiti.
He needs to never see the light of day, imo.
How sad for the family that adopted him. They must be devastated. Oh, humiliated, too.

Apparently the accused was still working at the hospital weeks after the patient gave birth.
Wondering if in some small way he felt like a "proud " father and how he reacted when word (no doubt) spread through the hospital that a baby was born- did he try to get a look at the child?
speculation, imo.

The mom (victim) and baby were transported to an actual hospital. https://www.washingtonpost.com/heal...-details-woman-giving-birth-vegetative-state/ Therefore, he would have had no access. Hopefully he didn’t attempt to visit her at the hospital. Although, he obviously has no shame. Moo
Interesting his wife left him days prior to the victim birthing his baby. Makes me wonder, what was his frame of mind? Also, wonder if he ever thought of murdering the poor victim? He had to know she was pregnant, imo. He knew what was ahead for him, I think. How could he not?
Nasty Nathan, I hope you rot in he77.

Wondering if this sort of past behavior in Haiti might be used to help defend the present actions of the accused? speculation, imo.
Difficult reading...

Does anyone know at what age NS was adopted?

Sutherland attorney David Gregan asked for a much lower bond, saying there was "no direct evidence that Mr. Sutherland has committed these acts," and that he anticipated that Sutherland's defense would include his own DNA expert.

This isn't new science. It's not exactly something they can discredit. It's DNA! I totally agree with doing another test to ensure the results are accurate, sure. However, if he IS the father of the baby then there really isn't a way to discredit the DNA evidence.

No worries. I just wanted to make sure that you didn't believe I felt that way.

We have to remember that many attorney's are public defenders. This guy is in private practice but a couple of reviews make me think he might also have a public defender contract. A couple of reviews also mention him taking cases pro bono when he believed in the case.

If so, he doesn't choose his clients anyway. Also, everyone deserves a good lawyer so him taking the case doesn't mean he's awful. Though I admit the defense comes close.

Families of other patients at Arizona care home say they are shocked by nurse's arrest | Daily Mail Online

The families of other patients at the Arizona care facility where a mentally disabled quadriplegic woman gave birth after being raped while she was in a coma say the nurse who is accused of assaulting her 'fooled' them all and was the last staff member they suspected of carrying out the attack.

[...]

On Thursday, those relatives told of their shock after learning that Sutherland - a Christian rapper who was once in a band - was the suspect.

'He was very loving, very compassionate. Or he pretended to be. And I really trusted him.

'I suspected others, but I was wrong, and he fooled everybody,' Angela Gomez, the mother of another patient in the facility, told local outlet3TV.

'Never in my wildest dreams would I think that he would be the suspect,' she added.

'I was in shock. Complete shock because I trusted this man.

'I have even told him, "I'm glad you're working with my son tonight, it gives me a good feeling when I go home."'

Another wolf in sheep's clothing. That's often the way... and it always shocks people that that's even possible, but I don't know that it should anymore. You can't tell a rapist by their horns, their long tail, and the pitch fork that they're carrying. This kind of predator relies on the fact that as a society we are still stuck on the idea that predators are hiding in dark alleys, not walking among us.

I’m from Australia & wondering if that involves Big Bubba and if it does then I’m agreeing with you! :D

That’s bloody funny.
