John M. Roll, 63, a federal district court judge.
Gabriel Zimmerman, 30, Giffords' director of community outreach.
Dorwin Stoddard, 76, a pastor at Mountain Ave. Church of Christ.

Dorthy Murray, 76.
Phyllis Schneck, 79.

"...in addition to the six deaths, 13 people were wounded in the melee. [Sheriff] Dupnik said the rampage ended only after two people tackled the gunman...."

"...Investigators said they were looking for an accomplice, believed to be in his 50s, who may have assisted in the attack. Dupnik said authorities have pictures indicating the existence of a second person aiding in the attack...."

FWIW, while I am not a pot smoker, I'm getting a little tired of hearing the gunman described as a "pot-smoking loner." That's about as relevant as a "chardonnay swilling eccentric", IMO.

If he had smoked pot before this it wouldn't have happened. He would have stayed home watching Cartoon Network and only pulling himself off the couch to get munchies.

Maybe she was for a heavy Doritos tax?

I'm not making light of the tragedy but the idea that he's a pot smoker has anything to do with this. I have partaken in my life, as I'm sure many here have, and I can tell you from experience that the only things that matter are: The TV, stereo, food, drinks, the bathroom and friends to hang with. Getting off the couch is done only when necessary.

Pima Community College said Mr. Loughner had been suspended for conduct violations and withdrew in October after five instances of classroom or library disruptions that involved the campus police.

Good for Pima College for suspending a disruptive student. At the college where I teach, it is nearly impossible to get rid of a disruptive student. A number of my colleagues have horror stories of students who are discipline problems, including threatening the professor, and yet the administration refuses to take these students out of the classroom. Colleges campuses have an increasing number of mentally and emotionally unstable students that put everybody else at risk.

what was it really though 6 people shot in the head and 19 total wounded? I am sorry i just dont believe one person could do it all so quickly, especially point blank for the first shot.

JMO, his youtube videos are so crazy i can only see two options here.
1. he is convincing himself of these things to convince through repeating. It feels like he either types it up in a state of delirium or "sleep," most likely reading through the videos at some other point in time or in a repeated way.
2. The videos were made with him, and it was an exchange of conversation made into videoform for himself and/or others to remind and memorize these "ideas"

Its very easy to tell he is at least one of the members involved in the burning of the flag video, which makes one wonder what other accounts he had, and why he would friend or favorite his own video he made on a seperate youtube account?

Christina Taylor Green, nine-year-old victim in today's Tucson shootings, once was an infant designated to be a "Face of Hope" by virtue of her birth on September 11, 2001.

She was one of the children born on 9/11, reports Tucson blogger David Abie Morales. And she is thereby featured in the book by Christine Pisera Naman, titled Faces of Hope, Babies Born on 9/11, dedicated to all the mothers who gave birth and to their babies born on the day the World Trade Towers in New York City were taken down by an act of terrorism. Ironically, today her life ended in violence, as she fell under the attack of a gunman at a political function at a supermarket.

A neighbor was going to the Giffords event today, the Arizona Republic reports, and invited Christina along simply because she thought she would enjoy it, according to Christina's uncle, Greg Segalini. Christina was newly elected to the student council at her school. The event, an opportunity for constituents to meet Giffords and discuss any concerns they had related to the federal government, was an outdoor family friendly event.

A talented girl, Christina Green participated in many activities, ranging from ballet to baseball. "How do you prepare for something like this? My little niece got killed--took one on the chest and she is dead," Segalini reportedly said outside the girl's house. The public yields a stunned assent."She was born on 9-11 and died today? That's the most tragic thing I've ever heard," a Facebook comment asserts.

Christina's page in Faces of Hope reads: I hope you know all the words to the Star Spangled Banner and sing it with your hand over your heart. I hope you jump in rain puddles (p. 42).

Christina Taylor Green, America's child, may you rest in peace.

I just want to cry. This little girl was born on a day of terror, and died on a day of terror. I can't imagine anything more tragic.

I don't think this shooter belonged to that AN group either. I tend to believe that Tweet page of someone stating that they went to school with him. He was left of communist with a nazi twist to him. The only way I see him with the AN group is because he couldn't find any other group that fit him 100%. He hated Jews a lot, so this would lead him towards that group but I think in a minor way.

We all wish the best for Congresswoman Giffords. However...

Survival is one step. Full recovery is another. Please don't think I'm not wishing her a full recovery. I'm just wondering.

Brady, shot during President Reagan's tenure, was permanently disabled and was unable to continue as Reagan's press secretary. The bullet exploded the right frontal lobe of his brain.

The Brady shooting brings thoughts about returning to service. If Giffords cannot continue as Congresswoman, is there a provision in the Constitution, as there is for the President, for a replacement?
