Jared Loughner, the young Tucson man accused of shooting then-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killing six people, is set to plead guilty Tuesday, an official familiar with the case said Saturday.
A psychologist appointed by the court is expected to say at the hearing that he is competent to plead guilty,
I have read the book about Gabby and thought it such an excellent book. It was a true testament to Gabby and Mark's love and their strength, as well as the things they have accomplished and will continue to accomplish in their lives.
This is a great link because it has all of the episodes from 20/20 for the past few seasons, including the ones about Susan and Josh Powell and the one about Tina Watson who died at the hands of her husband while on her honeymoon scuba diving with him
Jared Loughner pleads guilty to killing 6 in Tucson shooting
TUCSON Jared Lee Loughner pleaded guilty Tuesday to the Tucson shooting attack last year that killed six people and wounded 13, including then-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. updated 8:13 PM EDT, Sun August 12, 2012(CNN) -- Nineteen months after she and 18 others were shot at a political event -- six of them fatally -- former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords returned home Sunday to her native southern Arizona, her husband said.
Giffords has spent most of the time since the January 8, 2011, attack at medical facilities in Houston recovering from being shot in the head at a "Congress On Your Corner" event outside a Safeway supermarket in Tucson. She's returned to her hometown several times since that shooting, though not permanently until now.
"Moving back to Tucson today," her husband Mark Kelly, a retired Navy captain and astronaut, wrote Sunday on his Twitter feed. "Gabby has been waiting for this day for a long time." more at link: http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/12/us/arizona-giffords-returns/
Former Shuttle Commander Mark Kelly, the husband of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, put in a request to NASA for the Tucson flyover since it's not that much of a detour form the original flight path.
Endeavour is currently on a cross country flight, piggybacking on a 747, from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to its final destination; the California Science Center in Los Angeles.
(It's between 11 am to 12pm that it will fly tomorrow over the town. (Arizona Time) Pretty cool at 1500 feet. That's low. argh! (national pirate's day) Cameras ready!)

It will fly over between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. Thursday. It is going to be flying at an altitude of about 1500 feet over the UA mall.
September 20, 2012 8:48 PM (CBS/AP) Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona got to witness history fly over her state.
With her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, Giffords watched retired space shuttle Endeavour make its last flight on top of a jumbo over Tucson. The shuttle was en route to California, where it landed. It will head on over to Los Angeles as it will become a museum.
The flyover was to honor Giffords, who was injured in a shooting rampage last year. Before retiring from her House seat, she was a member of the House committee on science, space and technology. Space shuttle Endeavour lands in California
Both Giffords and Kelly watched the flyover from a parking garage at the University of Arizona. The former congresswoman was seen wearing a cap and a T-shirt that read "Endeavour 134."
"That's my spaceship," said Kelly, who was Endeavour's last commander. more at link: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57517407/giffords-cheers-on-endeavours-last-voyage/

09:19 PM ET Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will attend Thursday's sentencing of the Arizona man who pleaded guilty to shooting her in the head, a source close to Giffords said.
Prosecutors have said Jared Loughner will be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the January 2011 shooting, which killed six people and wounded 13 others, including Giffords, at a meet-and-greet event in Tucson.
The source said Giffords' husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly, also will attend the sentencing, and that Kelly will speak at the proceeding.
As part of a plea deal with the government, Loughner pleaded guilty in August to 19 charges in exchange for the sentence to avoid facing the death penalty.
Giffords stepped down from her position in Congress last January to focus on her recovery and has since regained the ability to speak and walk, though her right side remains weak. http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/11/07/giffords-to-attend-loughners-sentencing-thursday-sources-say/
I hope they feel a measure of justice when he is sentenced, although their lives are irreparably changed, and I hope Loughner sees Gabby is still alive and functioning, and that he didn't ultimately succeed!!!
