off topic: the ad underneath your post is for Squishmallows.

They're pretty cute...

Did anything but the initial report mention toys?

I know they are I have been looking everywhere for one and I can't find them :(.

I'll check Namus, NCMEC, and any additional articles for more knowledge and see if they were mentioned.

Try Google--they're everywhere every time you seek/buy on line. I'm still seeing my internist from nothing I ever placed on line. We live one hour away. Data harvesting??

Well, I checked Namus and it has no mention of the tarp mentioned prior. But, on UnidentifiedWiki it lists she was found with a tarp. I went back to NCMEC and it mentions nothing of a tarp. I am pretty sure someone mentioned this before but perhaps they referred to the reaper's cape as a tarp. There was no mention of toys in any of the previously linked articles and the ones I found. The odd thing is I was reading the article Body found by hunter listed as a female between 14 and 22 - The Gila Herald and the Sheriff mentions her as an "it" and said "Somebody wrapped it up in some stuff". So this most likely confirms she was wrapped in the "tarp" and possibly the sweater. Sad they referred to her as an it.

Likely at that point they didn't know if the remains were male or female. Many people, especially older people, will use "it" in that case. I'd use "they," but...

It's pretty common for initial reports of recovered bodies to be wrong. The people on the scene often make guesses that aren't confirmed on thorough examination or autopsy.

The initial reports said she was wrapped in a tarp. It might have been the costume/gown that they thought was a tarp.

I could see myself using it. In 'they found a body and it was wrapped in a tarp'.

Slight bump, I was thinking about her.
Still no reconstruction and I can't find any new articles about her.

Have there been any new exclusions in NamUs?

Did you come up with anything? This case weighs on my mind. Why isn't it getting more attention?

Is anyone comfortable with contacting the investigators and seeing if there is more information available? Was she wearing any other clothes, shoes? Cause of death? Was there a tarp? Were there toys near where she was located? If so, what were they? Do they have any leads? Are there any other rules outs? Are they going to put her DNA in the system? And so many more questions...

No, I didn't have any time yesterday since I had gotten sick. I am working on it today though and if you want I can try emailing or calling the Artesia Police Department. I don't there were any toys but I'm not sure. I think that she was wrapped up with the cloak and possibly the sweater. So, I wonder if the clothes even belong to her or they belong the her killer. I will try to see if I can find if her DNA in Namus, which I imagine it is since it has been 5 months since she was found.

I live about 30 minute away from the corrals. I took pictures and someone knew to put her there. It's so creepy out there.

Welcome SandraC! Thanks for joining the discussion. I'd love to see your pictures. This case weighs on my mind. A young girl has been murdered and no one is looking for her. Someone must know something.

Could it be Karlie Guse?

Poor Karlie. I hadn't read her case before.

Information from NamUs:
Karlie is 5'7". Jane Doe is 5'1".

Karlie has dark brown hair. JD has sandy-colored hair, 3 inches long.

Karlie went missing 2 years earlier in 2018 at age 16. JD passed away in 2020 with an estimated upper age range of 17.

I hope I have that all correct.

But let's keep trying. This girl needs to be identified.

I do hope they will be comparing her DNA to databases and if no match is found, creating a picture.
