YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma community is coming together to help find a missing man who was last seen leaving his home at Country Roads RV park in Yuma.

Search groups across the city of Yuma are not giving up on finding the 69-year-old who went missing this past Thursday.

Family members say he was heading out for a drive just after seven in the morning and never returned.

Steve Thornburg's partner, Marianne Smith, says he told her he was going for a drive at either Martinez lake or Picacho.

More from 69-year-old man missing in Yuma - KYMA

SBM

Thornburg is familiar with Yuma and surrounding areas as he owned his own desert touring company in town. After he left the west exit at Country Roads, he never returned and can not be reached. [Snip] ...tried to create a “silver alert” but ... didn't meet all of the criteria. [Snip] ... he has Parkinson's disease but do not believe it is a factor in why he is missing.

Video footage from where Steve lives shows he left around 7:15 am that morning. Steve's son says that he finds time believing that his father is "lost". "He just went out that morning, and now one was expecting him to be out for that long," says Brent Thornburg.

Many residents in the Yuma area have been volunteering their time trying to find Steve. Police along with Yuma border patrol helicopters have been helping along with the search.

Brent says how he was just confused when he heard that his father was missing, "he texted me that morning saying to have a great day and to not work too hard."

Yuma Police have clarified there is no update on Steve Thornburg, he is still missing.
