If Christina is telling the truth, it means he's still out there. The bloodhounds searching for him are searching for live scent. Maybe LE should consider airborne scenting/water scenting cadver dogs. Bloodhounds usually are not trained to scent cadver or scent the surface of water. So far there is no sign of an animal carring him off. I am sure LE would have reported that. Nothing on the land searches as of yet. That leaves the water. In many drowning cases, blind water searches result with nothing. Also the reports said 50 people were searching for Syler before bringing in the bloodhounds.(Correct me if I am wrong) It is possible that amount of people searching could move his scent around. This may explain why the dogs are picking up a scent and then it goes cold.

This video report says that a cadaver dog has been brought in to assist.

Investigators are combing through hundreds of tons of garbage at a northern Arizona landfill, looking for evidence in the case of a missing 2-year-old Flagstaff boy.

Detectives from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, FBI agents and forensics specialists have already searched through roughly 200 tons of waste, but found no critical information, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said.
