I found this pic on Travis' FB page. I wonder if these are the shoes and shorts he was wearing when he left the campsite?

Is Vulture Mine/Peak near or same area as Vulture Ghost Town?

Sounds like it’s the same area. On satellite view looks like there is a small camp area nearby but I am having a hard time finding any info about organized campsites in the Vulture Peak/Vulture Mine area.

Without warning or explanation Travis left his campsite on foot at 5:00am leaving his brother and friend behind.”

Very concerning! So, he left without saying anything. What had been his state of mind prior? Was he angry at the other two for some reason? I wonder what he went to get out of the truck?

I was just thinking how first thing in the morning most people need to use the restroom. Was there any facilities for that, or was this really roughing-it type of camping?

Maybe he went looking for a private spot to *go*. Got tp out of the truck, perhaps? Then got lost?

The Last Seen section on the flyer has what looks like GPS coordinates: (33.88023, -112.75719).

He is unfamiliar with the area, according to the flyer. Does he live in Phoenix (or Arizona)? Is he a hiker? A camper? Were these new experiences for him? It was pretty chilly out there when he went missing (at least for locals). The trails are somewhat scrubby, but I suppose he could have become lost.

Like others have asked, why did he walk away? If it was to use the bathroom in a secluded spot, how far did he need to walk?? Most of us would not wander very far for that.

everyone was up at 5am? It was only alleged that he walked away from the camp at this point IMO.

Interesting, Vulture Mine is an active mining site- Google Maps

Yes, thank you. I read what you read.

I did include "IMO" in my post.

True that we are going by what his brother and friend have reported, at least as far as we can tell that is how we have this information.

Just a scenario I’m imagining:
How I’m imagining the scene at this point (which, of course, may not be how it actually happened) is the other two heard/saw him get up around 5 am (in a shared tent?) and go out of the tent. At that point, I wonder if they actually saw him go to the car, or simply heard him opening the car door and rustling around, then closing the car door, then heard him walking away. 5 am is kinda early, so I was thinking the other two might not be ready to get up and out of the tent yet.

How light would it be outside at that time, do you think? Light enough to walk around without a flashlight? Maybe that’s what he was getting from the car.
Just my thoughts.

It looks as if he might have turned around to use the washroom, and just got lost. Sometimes in nature everything looks the same. it''s really strange. I do wonder if everyone was up then, or if maybe he just nudge his brother and said I am stepping off to pee.

I'm guessing there were no other campers there?
So we only have his brother and friend as witnesses that he just upped and left at 05.00hrs, if indeed, that's actually what happened. IMO, It could be suicide - or it could be murder.

The report states Travis 'walked off in an unknown direction'. Yet someone (his friend or brother?) saw him leave his tent, go to his truck, look around in the trunk.....but then couldn't say which direction he walked off in?!

I think LE need to forensically check the soil around the campsite for signs of drag marks and trace all the tyre tracks. Also get sniffer dogs to try to find blood/cadaver scent.

At 5:00 AM it may still be dark. It makes sense they might be able to see him looking in his truck, the cab light would be on. Once the cab light went out, they probably couldn't see him anymore. I'm not jumping to conclusions yet, we need more info. I do agree that scent dogs, a helicopter and/or drones would be helpful in the search.
