Pretty isolated area except for the camp. It has been in business since the 40‘s.

I wonder where was Whitney going at 5:50 AM on a Sunday morning of a long weekend?

I wish they would start one. They are giving good, basic background info as to what she was doing there and her normal routine, but as you said we can’t share it yet.

Did she leave from her house or someone else’s? If the latter it could be that she was leaving to go home.

Just thinking out loud. YMMV.

The “last seen” address is at a camp. The camp has a good website, which lists several staff but Whitney is not listed there.

I wonder what her role is there.

A volunteer?

Update from Sheriff's office:
Watch

Unfortunately not much news other than that they've been searching for couple of days and their SAR people are getting tired. They've searched every road and trail in the area and some off trail. They will likely reach out to get assistance from other SAR groups in surrounding counties.
They confirmed that a staff member saw her heading away from the camp.

Man I've been all through this area of Arizona camping with my family. Its rugged and beautiful. Finding her personal items on the road is troubling. Holding out hope for this lovely lady.

Officials say they have had people searching the area since Sunday. They are searching the direction that Collins was believed to be traveling, based on witness statements, which was heading away from Friendly Pines.

Quite concerning that Whitney hadn't been found yet after all the searches, as well as that her ID & fanny pack were located at the roadside. I really hope that she wasn't abducted and forced to get into a car while walking.

More info.

Whitney Collins is a counselor at Friendly Pines Camp. Collins was last seen by a coworker near Friendly Pines Road walking before her 6 a.m. shift on Sunday. Family members say it’s not uncommon for Collins to take a walk before work, but this time, she didn’t come back.

Collins’ parents are both Army veterans, working alongside crews to find her after flying from North Carolina. Collins’ father, Steve, says investigators told him her fanny pack and ID were found on the side of the road where she was last seen. Collins’ car is still at the camp, along with her phone and keys inside her cabin.

Isn’t summer camp closed?
