Baby Dies From Crushed Head--- Why???

  • #21
How is leaving a baby in a car at a carwash, alone, an accident? Why not take the baby out with them? I believe that there are true accidents. I also believe that none of us are perfect. However, you don't EVER leave ANY child ALONE in a VEHICLE for any reason. They didn't even stand there with their eyes on the car. If they had, they would have seen her get out. This wasn't an accident. This was negligence.

They were washing the car - sounds like they were there. Vaccuming the mats. They couldn't watch her safely there - too much to get into - electrical outlets and such. Just must have been both on the same side of the car as the baby got out on the other side.

It sounds like it's a carwash machine, with vaccums available for self service - so the baby wasn't going through the carwsh in the car alone, she was sitting in her carseat (far and away the safest place for her right then) - while her mom and aunt vaccumed the car. Somehow she gets out, and escapes the car (not hard if all doors were open as they usually are when you are washing a car) at a point when neither of them was on that side of the car nor looking at her.

Maybe they were neglectful - but right now that evidence isn't in, for me. It's entirely possible they just didn't know she could escape, and while they were right there, they just weren't looking the right direction at the wrong time.

I understand what you're saying, but there were two adults present and no excuse why one of them couldn't have been watching the kid.

I couldn't get enough from the article to determine much, but I can't imagine that the mother went there to see if she could kill her kid. I'm not going to bash her until more is known.

There but for the grace of God go I. I always think about those words when I hear of a tragedy like this and see folks taking sides. I don't say "it would never happen to me" because once you make bold statements like that, life/fate/voodoo/bad karma comes along and knocks you down a peg or two by showing you that yes, these things can happen to anyone at anytime. My prayers are with the beautiful Angel Child and her family who I know are devastated and do not need folks crucifying them - they're doing it to themselves I'm quite sure. I don't allow my dogs to run free and never have - if I'm not living someplace with fencing (and I'm not now) they're on leashes with me at all times. Have I had a dog killed in the road - yes and it WAS an accident when she slipped out unseen. I can tell you without any hesitation that being the one who found her 9 pound crushed and gutted body in the road and carried her to the house - well most of the way before I collapsed, I have paid for that accident every single day since then. There is NOTHING you can say about those women or do to them that will be any harsher then what they'll go through on their own. PERIOD.

Thank you Jeana for putting into words what I have been trying, unsuccessfully apparently, to convey.

I haven't read that either. What I said in my first post was that "IF" the child was in a car seat.

Quote:
"If the baby was buckled properly into her carseat and the mom/aunt/ANY ADULT was watching her, this never would have happened"

I just googled Blountstown and found this picture of the car wash. What I haven't read in any article is if this baby was even in a car seat.

I agree. Parents are people ,they make mistakes and sometimes not the best judgement calls.
