"I believe they need to have security cameras," Seymore said. "They need to have security guards. They need to have security around that place because anybody can walk onto that place."

She said people spend thousands of dollars to attend the retreat.

"Taylor spent close to $4,000 to go there to sleep in a tent and not be protected," Seymore said.

I translate the statement "redefining what is natural" as a discriminatory phrase meaning her trans status is what got her in to trouble and clearly puts the fault of her disappearance on Taylor's own shoulders after deciding to change gender.
trans people of color are at the highest risk for early death and violent crime. mOO

Are there any updates on the investigation into Taylor's disappearance? I cannot see anything recent on social media platforms, do we know if the US authorities are still trying to find her?

They were nickeled and dimed when they got there, too. And most of the staff were "volunteers". Yep, they weren't getting paid.

Why is the US government not taking any action to find Taylor? I don't think she drowned, and there is a need to investigate what goes on inside that yoga retreat. It makes me sad how authorities are not supporting her mum.

The Chicago Tribune link is an opinion piece, not a news article, and does not include any links supporting its assertions regarding the U.S. government taking no action on Taylor’s behalf.

The U.S. or any government can’t enter another country to investigate a possible crime against one of its citizens unless invited. They can’t force a country to work with them. They certainly can’t barge in and investigate the yoga retreat or take over the investigation from local LE. There has to be a treaty allowing cooperation. We don’t know what the U.S. government has done to help behind the scenes, but this article is certainly designed to make readers assume they don’t care about Taylor. That’s really not helpful, fair or probably even true. What’s the agenda? It’s up to Taylor’s family to put pressure on the government of both countries to do their utmost to investigate Taylor’s disappearance.

Here are links explaining how the U.S. government works with other governments when a possible crime has been committed against one of its citizens or the citizen has disappeared.

The thing is, the Bahamas are a sovereign country. Investigation and prosecution is up to them.
I also think it’s terrible that retreat hasn’t been investigated. That was a #1 priority to look IMO.

Sadly, I think this will be a cold case without any answers for her poor family and friends.

Seems the powers that be in The Bahamas may have a lot going on FWIW...

“massive cocaine importation conspiracy enabled by corrupt Bahamian government officials, including high-ranking members of the Royal Bahamas police force”.

I just got back from Nassau and there is a electronic billboard on a main road asking for tips.

I don't think this case is impaired by corruption. I suspect the police have no real clues. Someone at the Ashram should know something, but no-one seems to be talking. Unfortunately, the Atlantic Ocean is large area and there are multiple tiny islands making up the Bahamas. Unless a witness comes forward, she will likely never be found.

May (or may not) be related:

American man found dead on Paradise Island
From the article above it was alledged he got into an "altercation" at the resort with one or more parties before hand and that police had been looking for him prior to his death. Not confirmed, still in the investigative phase. Family Seeks Answers After Death of American Tourist in the Bahamas But IMO it's likely not related to Taylor's disappearance (not the same resort, simply the same very large island)

The article mentions there is still a travel advisory for the Bahamas. I believe a similar advisory was in effect when Taylor went missing. There is some risk for tourists.
The US Department of State advised Americans against traveling to the Bahamas, placing a level 2 advisory on the Caribbean nation.

The “Exercise Increased Caution” level was announced on March 30 as the country has experienced serious crimes against and deaths of tourists visiting the island.

Actually, looking at Google Maps, the Ashram is right next to the very large Paradise complex. They share a beach and there appears to be a road connecting the ashram to a large parking lot on the edge of the Paradise complex.

I agree these incidents are likely not related, but the proximity of the locations is interesting.

I agree with the last sentence. Whilst I believe they are not directly related, I think they may have similarities, in that perhaps extreme violence by some people is the response to certain things on the island. In Taylor's case, maybe her gender identity was distasteful to some, or her reaction to being called out on it caused an altercation. In the case above, it also sounds like some form of altercation took place before the death. Of course, I know nothing about the man in the above case, but I do find it hard to believe that someone who had just arrived for a holiday, and presumably was in holiday mode, would spit at someone. Was there alcohol or drugs involved? That would make more sense to me. However, different story, different case.
