Police are still investigating the matter of a missing 30-year-old American woman who was the subject of a missing person report issued on November 17.

She is Samara Cameisha Kymel Bristol. She was staying at Airy Cot, St Thomas. She was reported missing by her mother Samantha Bristol of 8873, 193rd Street, Holly's, Queens, New York.

With disturbing rumours floating around on social media over the past 24 hours, Police Public Information Officer, Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss today (November 18) told Loop News:

"What is being reported is not true.

"We have not found a body in that area or any other area for that matter and certainly not a body pertaining to the subject who is missing still. Our investigation is very much still ongoing and there has not been any body recovered or found."

Therefore, he called for persons to stop spreading misinformation.

"Certainly spreading fake rumours will not help the cause and we're asking you to think about the family and the mother of the missing person, who those directly affect," the Acting Inspector stressed.

And he urged all persons, who may have genuine information that can assist the investigation in relation to the missing woman, to come forward and share their knowledge with the police instead.

Samara was last heard by her mother Samantha Bristol sometime between 6:45 pm and 8:30 pm on Tuesday, November 16, and has not been heard or seen since.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Samara can contact the District D police station at 1-246-419-1726/1729, Police Emergency 211 or any other Police Station.

Police were Thursday questioning a man in connection with the disappearance of Barbadian-American Samara Cameisha Kymel Bristol, 30, who is visiting from New York.

A vehicle owned by the person of interest has also been impounded as the search continued for the missing woman after bizarre developments over the last 24 hours in which a fire broke out at the house where she was staying at Airy Cot, St. Thomas.

Police also dismissed as “reckless and unfortunate misinformation” that a woman’s body had been found. They urged people to desist from setting out to deliberately create misleading information and stories.

Judging by the video above, pretty strong fire. Was that to hide evidence, or just a coincidence?

What is this Airy Cot? On Google it is described as a 'lodging' but also says 'permanently closed'.

This vid of area makes it look quite remote.

Well I would tell the Inspector "fake rumors" might lead to something like this:

Police investigations into the disappearance of Samara Bristol have lead to the discovery of a body in the area of the Mangrove dump in St Thomas.

The discovery was made about 9:45 a.m. on Sunday.

Police said the identity of the body is yet to be ascertained.

The body is in an advance stage of decomposition, police said.

Police have cordoned off the immediate and extended scene and have commenced forensic examinations.

Would a body be in an 'advanced state of decomposition' after just under 4 days though?

A mangrove dump. Jeez.

Although the decomposing body of a female which was found near the Mangrove landfill in St Thomas is yet to be identified, police public relations officer, acting station sergeant Rodney Inniss, says they have reason to believe it is connected to the case of missing woman Samara Bristol.

Investigations into her disappearance led them to the location around 11:45 a.m. on Sunday.

A mangrove dump. Jeez.
In a tropical climate with animal activity I think it's possible.

The body found in the vicinity of the Mangrove landfill on Sunday morning has been identified as that of missing woman Samara Cameisha Kymel Bristol.

Police say she was identified by a family member.

The 30-year-old was reported missing on Tuesday by her mother Samantha Bristol of Queen’s, New York, and an investigation was launched.

An extensive search was conducted in Airy Cot, St Thomas, where she was staying, as well as nearby Farmers, Welchman Hall and Mangrove on Saturday, but it was unsuccessful.

Bristol’s body was found around 11: 45 a.m. on Sunday.

A person of interest is in police custody and investigations are continuing.

Police confirm it was Samara Bristol’s body found near Mangrove
