Barb's November 14 interview

SA already had a criminal record by then. Its a small town, people tend to stay far away from those who are criminals. Sort of like, you're known by the company you keep.

By the way, do you think Chuck just developed that after SA got arrested, or maybe he was like that all along.

I am not disputing SA criminal record, just that he has never had any convictions of a sexual nature...don't get me wrong, I do not think Avery was a good guy, he definitely had issues. I just don't equate that with him being a rapist and a murderer. There has only ever been ALLEGATIONS when it comes to him committing crimes of a sexual nature. Even as far as the Morris allegations went, it was only rumor and hearsay. LE even tried to catch him in the act several times by hiding in Morris car in order to catch him in the act, yet ended up coming away with nothing. In the niece's case, I do not believe the excuse that LE just let it drop, because of the murder charge. IMO, that is ridiculous, if they had the evidence they would have ran with that as well. And lastly, concerning Jodi's allegations against him, all they were ever able to charge him with was a disorderly conduct. I believe that that was due to the fact that Jodi was not so "innocent" in those circumstances either. It has been noted that she had a severe drinking problem and was known to be aggressive and belligerent when drunk, which was why SA was trying to get her to quit drinking. When she called LE to accuse him of beating her and choking her, they could find no marks on her to substantiate those claims. That is why he was ultimately charged with disorderly conduct and NOT domestic violence. JMO

I believe that Chuck was probably like that all along, Earl too for that matter. I believe both of them have criminal records of those type of deviant behavior to back those types of claims against them, I just find it perplexing that SA has no such convictions against him, yet he is known as a RAPIST.

I was just pointing out that in a small town where everyone knows each other, it didn't take SA to be convicted of rape for people to be turned off of "shopping" so to say at Avery's. I believe the business flourished because the dad built it and people built relationships with the dad and that is why they went there. There most likely wasn't that same bond with the kids--so they found alternatives. That's how small towns work.

As far as the land goes---that is one big environmental nightmare. I think they would consider that a brownfield--and because of all the environmental issues from having cars there for 40+ years, it frankly isn't worth that much or the environmental headache for a new owner.

It's interesting to look at the historical imagery on Google Earth for the Avery place between 2005 and today. Looks like the yard usage goes from about 30 to 20 acres. Wonder what it was like pre-1985.

I remember going to my Grandparent's house with my parents when we were kids and I-43 wasn't built yet. So, of course I was curious as to when it got built and looked it up. I-43 was built in 1981, so I'm guessing it was just a small place in a small town back then. It used to take up forever to get to my grandparents, we either had to take I-57 thru a bunch of small towns or US 41. Talk about the Are We There Yet Syndrome.
