BELIZE - Alison MacKenzie, 43, tourist, from AZ, Rendezvous Caye, 18 Jan 2020

This is one case that still bothers me. I searched for updates today. No body found yet. I do see a Nancy Grace article/story I’ll link from April.

Nancy Grace on troubled investigation of American woman missing in Belize: 'Is it Natalee Holloway all over again?'
"I've been studying the case very carefully," said Grace on Fox Nation's "Crime Stories." "And so far, I alone -- at thousands of miles distance -- have come up with three different stories that people have told about what happened to this Arizona mom, Alison MacKenzie."
.....

Morgan argued that it is common for investigators in this part of the world to bungle homicide investigations.

"This is one of the problems that we hear over and over and over again," he concluded. "I reflect back to Natalee Holloway... many times they fall greatly short relative to crime scene processing, the processing of forensic evidence... if you don't get to this point in the early stages of the investigation, the whole thing is blown."
Yeah it seems like touristy places in this part of the world have no interest in getting to the truth of crimes on tourists. I think they just want it to go away. :(
Natalee Holloway, Lost girls of Panama and so many others...

There is so much crime in Belize. Problems with their own police force and government officials. I know the FBI offered help, but I don’t know if they are or were independently investigating.
With all that said, I have so many questions that have never been brought up, or discussed in MSM.

Was her boyfriend a Belizean National?
Had she had any other problems during her stay? Any police reports?
Who else were they traveling with? Anyone other friends with them on the tour? Did they interview everyone on the tour?
Was her phone found? Did FBI look at it?
I think Nancy Grace says they (Alison and Paige) we’re going to buy property in Belize. Who was going to pay for property?

I just don’t get how she didn’t disturb anyone and wake them or anyone notice if indeed she got up after going to bed.

why the different time frames? Some say 10 pm, yet family was told captain saw her at 2:30. Why? Did he stay on guard all night? Was he up partying or for some other reason?

Where was the bathroom officially?

So many questions.

I too was initially suspect of what exactly happened. Hindsight, I can't help but think it's just an Occam's razor situation.

Here are some interesting quotes from Trip Advisor reviews specifically for Rendezvous Caye.

"The island itself is like a sandbar. You can walk around it in 10 minutes."

"..advance section has a pretty strong current. Several people had to go back to shore (with assistance from employees on kayaks) because they tired themselves out"

"They have a food shack you can purchase hotdogs, soda (coke products in a glass bottle), coconut water, beer and rum punch."

"Also available were multiple clean private restrooms with flushable toilets."

I think the chances of a body being recovered are only slightly lower than there being any kind of evidence whatsoever still to be found of what happened to Allison, though we can somewhat presume.

We should all be acutely aware of the relative safety and security we enjoy at home compared to those abroad.

January, 2020. American Alison MacKenzie, 43, disappears while on an organised tour sailing remote cayes of Belize. The mother of two vanished from her tent while camping on Rendezvous Caye on the second night of the tour, and has never been seen again. What happened to Alison MacKenzie?
