A murder investigation is underway in Marshall County.

Kentucky State Police were called in by the Benton Police after 49-year-old Lia Thompson of Benton was found dead in her home. The preliminary report said that Thompson was found just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday and that her injuries pointed toward foul play. Detectives are handling the investigation as a homicide.

Anyone who may have information relating to Thompson's death is asked to contact Kentucky State Police Post 1 at 270-856-3721 or leave a tip online.
