Oh wow. Not expecting this. Even though she was 99, she just seemed immortal to me for some reason..

I think Sue Ann Nivens was my favorite role of hers.

So sad to read this. I had hoped she would make it to 100. She was a delightful woman, and will be missed by many.

"Never hang your sweaters, Mary, or you'll have pointy shoulders!"

Okay, that may not be an exact quote of Sue Ann Nivens giving clothing advice to Mary Richards.

RIP, Ms. White!

Jeff Witjas: I don't think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again."

Dear Betty, May you now be with your dear husband, in peace and joy. You lived an exemplary life, full of optimism, compassion and exuberance.
You will be missed.

I watched the movies "Lake Placid" and "You Again", as well as some others that I'd normally skip -- just to watch her roles.
She was scrappy and outrageously funny !
Not as familiar with her earlier work although I've also watched some episodes of "The Golden Girls".

Rest in gentle peace, Betty.
Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

Oh, I so wish she'd made her birthday. So many time, she's made us laugh. So beautiful, funny, and irreverent. I want to be her when I grow up.

Ms. White had a longstanding interest in animal welfare. In the early 1970s she produced and starred in a syndicated talk show, “The Pet Set,” in which celebrities talked about their pets. She also devoted time and money to organizations like the American Humane Association and the Fund for Animals. In 2006 she was honored by the Los Angeles Zoo, which named her “ambassador to the animals” and unveiled a plaque in her honor.

“Being remembered for Rose and Sue Ann and the others would be wonderful,” Ms. White told The Chicago Sun-Times in 1990. “But I also want to be remembered as a lady who helped the animals.”
