bill stanton~independent investigator hired by anonymous man and woman benefactors

With each development this feels more and more like Caylee 2.0 to me.

I don't get that at all...Lisa's mother is clearly distraught.
KC was defiant and belligerent.

NOt if they are focusing on the parents to the exclusion of others. At least in the parents eyes.

Remember if you are innocent and still have LE saying its you, there is going to be zero trust left for LE and what they do. None.

Especially after the "they are not cooperating" presser show.

I would jump at the chance for a PI and not even think to ask where he is licensed.

We, from a distance, have the luxury of hypothesizing and bouncing theories off each other in this forum.

The parents have an empty crib.

If they are grasping at straws then that's what they have to do; this will go one of two ways. They are guilty and are prolonging the inevitable OR they are innocent and will take any help that is offered. IMHO

Local private investigators say they've filed a complaint against Bill Stanton who is not a licensed PI in MO. More at noon.

I should have clarified - not so much in comparing DB to Casey Anthony more just the way this "investigator" has now ridden into town on his white horse like Lenny Padilla, to "save the day."

I just feel like this is losing its focus on Lisa and becoming more of a reality show, similar to the way it did in Caylee's case. At least in my opinion.

Oh yeah...gotcha. Well let's hope and pray his lack of license in MO will silence him.

I have to say in as much as Stanton is a hindrance on this case IE: not being able to do a damn thing, the fact that the local PI's are filing a case against him is idiotic, why dont one of them that can practice there and ask questions and go snooping around legally offer their services to the family then.

But how is *this* guy going to help? He can't actually investigate and I can't see any member of LE sharing information with some guy that is planning and announcing PC's on day one of his involvement. These parents need a good lawyer (possibly one for each of them) not a ringmaster.

BBM: the family was probably UNAWARE of this when he offered his services.

But it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that out. The "lawyer" aunt wasnt able to tell them this??? Something is not right.. I am changing my signature to that saying because that seems to be all I do say..

The names have been changed but if you close your eyes you would swear the title of the thread says Putnam County. Good Lord.

Yes, and who was that private investigator down there who was all show and no results? His name is on the tip of my tongue............aargh! Oh, COBRA! Anyway, he did finally get arrested, LOL! He created even more of a circus in little Haleigh's case.

I don't know why, but I immediately took a major dislike to this guy tonight. No way is LE going to sit down and go over little Lisa's case with him. I think he should just slink back to where he came from!

I don't know the MO rules (or really much about the NY ones, for that matter). But I would be surprised if there wasn't something limiting the ability of a PI to go out and "drum up business" by offering to investigate stuff for people. Lawyers have rules like that (no "ambulance chasing"). There are ethical rules that govern such professions. And some people actually care about them.

Just a hunch...

Plus most people can't afford the luxury of working for free.

They have one child missing and 2 other young children counting on them, they can't afford to be unaware. How long did it take members here to discover he wasn't licensed in MO? The same resources were available to the family. Even if I was to distraught to do the research myself I would like to think that at least one member of my family would check him out after he appeared out of nowhere and offered to save the day at no cost to me. Surely one of them would ask if he was really the person I wanted speaking for me and my child. My answer would be no but I wouldn't be signing exclusive deals with major networks and taking family rest days either.

BBM. He isn't working for free. We have a whole thread dedicated to this guy, his name is on every major network today. You can't buy the type of advertising he just drummed up for himself. Too bad it is at the cost of an 11 month old child though.

Brilliant. I think that's a brilliant move on the part of the networks.

Ha! On Fox right now..................Pepitone states that Wild Bill is not licensed to work in the state of Missouri.

Not sure that the relative is, in fact, a lawyer. Sleuthers have suggested that Ashley Irwin might be a law student or possibly a paralegal - probably not a JD.

I don't think he is working just for publicity. I believe someone is paying him.

Yes, I know that. I was one of the first people to point out who and what he is immediately after he surfaced last night. I was referring to the suggestion, above, that perhaps local, properly licensed PI's should be stepping up to help the family. My comment was meant to say that most such people probably cannot afford to work for free (and this family obviously is not wealthy).
