Bobby Flay to Leave Food Network After 27 Years: Report | PEOPLE.com

Bobby Flay made his Food Network debut in 1994

Bobby Flay's time with Food Network appears to be coming to an end.

The celebrity chef, 56, is set to part ways with the network once his current three-year contract expires at the end of this year, according to Variety.

The outlet, citing sources close to the situation, reports that Food Network has ended negotiations with Flay, choosing to move on without the star after both parties could not agree on financial terms...

I really enjoy watching his show and like his style. He's still young, looking forward to where he heads next.

Earlier this year, Guy Fieri (Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives/Guy's Grocery Games) was awarded an $80M+ contract making him the highest paid Food Network personality ever. Bobby Flay probably thought that he deserved similar contract recognition given the fact that he'd been with Food Network almost from its debut in 1993. Since Food Network is now under the auspices of the Discovery Network, the organization is moving in a different direction with personalities and programming. Bobby Flay is probably considered "old school", while Guy Fieri captures a younger audience that is seeking a fresh, vibrant approach to food and cooking. JMO

I've been a Food Network fan since its inception and have noticed many changes over the past 25+ years. Now that Discovery Network is at the helm, there have already been significant changes in personalities and programming, and I expect there will be many more over the next several months. I find myself watching less and less Food Network as the new direction doesn't appeal to me.

I hadn't known this previously, but it's pretty much what I thought. Bobby Flay wanted a $100M contract to remain with Food Network.

Bobby Flay Wanted a $100M Contract to Stay with Food Network: 'Strictly Business,' Says Source (yahoo.com)

Bobby Flay's 27 years with the Food Network came to an end over money, a source close to the celebrity chef's team tells PEOPLE.

On Friday, news broke that Flay, 56, would be parting ways with the network once his current three-year contract expires at the end of this year.

According to the insider, Flay had been in negotiations with the Food Network and was seeking a deal that would be above Guy Fieri's recent $80 million contract (which reportedly made the Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives host the highest-paid chef on cable TV).

"Bobby wanted a contract in the ballpark of $100 million," the source says...

Pride goes before a fall. Seems like half of 100 million is better than none to me. Or even a fourth. But, perhaps BF doesn't really need the money anyway.

Netflix, AppleTV, Hulu, Peacock....

My money's on Netflix or him starting his own network.

No kidding!! Maybe he has something else in the pipeline, so it was easy to say adios? Time will tell.
I had to look ... The 20 Richest Celebrity Chefs in the World Yep, ole Bobby is said to have a net worth of $60M

Bobby Flay has been one of the rotating guest chefs on NBC's Today Show for several years. He has also had stints on NBC Sports coverage of the Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes, and Preakness (he owns racehorse/s). NBC and affiliates is probably a good guess.

As mentioned above, Bobby Flay's coffers aren't exactly empty. He owns several successful restaurants, has authored cookbooks, owns racehorses, his own production company, etc. If Flay wants a high-profile television/media presence, I'm sure he'll have plenty of options. JMO

Looks like Bobby Flay will remain a fixture on Food Network, after all. I got busy with Thanksgiving, then Christmas, and didn't keep up with Food Network news

Bobby Flay reaches new deal to stay with Food Network (today.com)

The celebrity chef and restaurateur will remain with Food Network after contract negotiations nearly ended a 27-year run.

...Food Network executives ended talks with Flay's representatives at WME in early October after what sources described was an impasse over financial terms and the scope of the deal. Flay's negotiations with Food Network came in the shadow of fellow network personality Guy Fieri having made headlines in May by setting an eye-popping three-year deal valued in the high eight-figure range.

"We are thrilled to continue Bobby Flay's long-standing relationship with Food Network. He captivates our audience with his incredible culinary skill, fierce competitive spirit and his trademark ability to share a deep passion for food," said Courtney White, president of Food Network and food streaming content for Discovery. "Bobby generously invites viewers into his culinary world, sharing his #WeCook philosophy and inspiring everyone in the kitchen. Continuing this creative relationship with such an extraordinary talent is the perfect way to usher in the holidays."...
