A man’s body was discovered Sunday afternoon along a mountain road deep in the Angeles National Forest, authorities said.

The body was first reported to sheriff’s officials about 4 p.m. by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife after it was spotted down an embankment in the area of Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road and Colby Ranch Road, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Mark Lopez said. It was not immediately clear who first found the remains.

There was no initial indication of how the man died, Lopez said. The body was already partially decomposed and appeared to have been disturbed by animals.

Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s officials were summoned to the scene to assist in the investigation.

No further details were available.

Guessing it may be this gentleman.

Maybe. That man is missing near Mt. Waterman, which would mean he'd have to cross over a major highway to get to where this body was found. I suppose it's certainly possible but seems unlikely he'd wander away from Mt. Waterman, cross a highway, and continue up another mountain quite a distance away. Hoping for some quick identification and resolution for the families.

Decomposing Body Found in Forest is Identified as Man Allegedly Killed by Roommate

A decomposing body found in Angeles National Forest has been identified as a man investigators believe was killed by his roommate, who was arrested last month hundreds of miles from the crime scene in Ventura County.

Cameron Lykins was arrested in May on suspicion of killing 22-year-old Houston Auer, even though no body had been found at the time.
