It was done on an inch by inch basis, Plaxton says.

Mar 8 2016 2:32 PM
"Speed was a problem," Plaxton said. The distance in the frame was too short to accurately calculate how fast the SUV was going in the original video. So the officer drove is at 70, 80 and 90 km/h to give those options.

Mar 8 2016 2:33 PM
Plaxton did an "overlay" for each video -- it cross-fades from the old video to the new one.

Mar 8 2016 2:34 PM
Plaxton's report says there are "no visible differences between" the two videos -- meaning the SUV looks almost identical.

Wow, this is some serious CSI stuff.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 10s11 seconds ago
In this case they used Millard's Yukon. Down to the inch tried to capture it in same position as vehicle seen in SuperSuckers video. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 26s26 seconds ago
Reconstruct the scenario and record it with Super Sucker video. Constable driving Yukon, Paxton toggling back and forth between images.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
End product was produced a short video, using view from May 6, 2013 & gradually overlap/cross fade to view taken in experiment (on June 12)

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 48s49 seconds ago
Had Yukon driven at 70, 80 and 90 kmph. #Bosma Police believed it was Millard's blue Yukon in video. Experiment to prove or disprove theory.

  • #204
Wonder if they can tell if it was MS driving the Yukon....

  • #205
molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
He did this for both the video captured at 8:46 and 9:20 pm on May 6, 2013. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
We're seeing overlaid images. Virtually identical.

  • #206
Mar 8 2016 2:36 PM
Crown Tony Leitch shifting through a screen shot from both videos. The SUV doesn't change at all.

Mar 8 2016 2:36 PM
"There are no differences between the two images we're looking at," Plaxton says.

***Probably helps that DM's Yukon had the dark rims. Again...what are the odds that someone else was driving a 2000 Yukon with dark rims and happened to get behind a truck that looked like TB's 2006 Dodge Ram?

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 42s43 seconds ago
Now seeing the overlay (of both the May 6 clip & the experimental take using Millard's Yukon June 12). No visible differences btwn them

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
Bosma's truck was unavailable for the experiment, he says. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
Expert says there were no differences between surveillance footage from May 6 2013, and #Millard Yukon used in recreation. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Paxton says there are no differences between the two images...Second overlay done on vehicles driving back past Super Sucker.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 33s34 seconds ago
Paxton uses brake lights and headlights illuminating road as markets by which to line up overlay.

Mar 8 2016 2:38 PM
Plaxton also did a similar experiment with the second video, which the Crown believes showed Bosma's truck followed by Millard's SUV. Investigators tried to recreate the video again with Millard's SUV.

Mar 8 2016 2:39 PM
"If i locate an inconsistency that is unexplainable, then this experiment is over and we conclude that these vehicles are not the same," Plaxton says.

Mar 8 2016 2:40 PM
Court now looking at another overlay of the original video and the Plaxton experiment with Millard's SUV. This time, the lights change a little.

Mar 8 2016 2:42 PM
Growth of some weeds between the two videos also obscures the way the light hits the road.

Mar 8 2016 2:43 PM
"I formed the opinion that these two vehicles are similar in shape and size," Plaxton says, referring to the SUV in the video and Millard's SUV.

Mar 8 2016 2:44 PM
The reflections on the vehicle in both videos are similar in size and shape, the report says.

Mar 8 2016 2:45 PM
"I can;t say they're the same vehicle. But I am of the opinion that they are the same or similar make and model," Plaxton says.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 59s59 seconds ago
Now seeing the second overlay (of the May 6/2013 9:20pm clip & the June 12 take, again with Millard's Yukon). #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 50s50 seconds ago
Headlights can be a unique characteristic of a vehicle. Suspension, alignment, damage makes a difference.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 14s14 seconds ago
Again, Plaxton says he formed the opinion the two vehicles are similar in shape and size. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 8s8 seconds ago
Paxton says he formed opinion theses two vehicles are similar in shape and size.

Highest concentration over the area Tim was sitting, and the second highest concentration over the driver's side. Unless MS was a magician/contortionist, it's pretty clear now he did not fire a gun from the back seat which had the lowest concentration of GSR on the roof liner.

MS would have had to hold the gun in his left hand in order to shot from the back seat of TB's truck. We do know DM is left handed :D . The struggle in the truck...I think TB saw DM pull the gun out of his man purse. Andreww has speculated DM was driving when TB was shot. Why do you speculate that Andreww, just curious?

OK so this is what I speculate happened. DM left his man purse with his gun in it, in the Yukon, parked in the field. The three left TB's laneway in TB's truck and as they drove along, one of them spotted "this strange Yukon just parked in a field", thought it was suspicious and suggested they check it out. After all, we know how people steal vehicles, take them for joy rides and then just abandon them kwim ;) DM pulled up along side the Yukon, but facing the opposite direction of it, driver's door to driver's door. MS got out of TB's truck, opened the Yukon's driver's door, fetched DM's purse and gave it to him through the driver's side window of TB's truck. DM pulled the gun out of his purse and TB saw it. There was a brief struggle and DM shot TB. TB probably wasn't even ordered out of his truck and didn't have much of a chance to react, other than his first thought would have been to protect himself from being shot. It was a fight or flight situation and TB instantaneously chose to fight. DM didn't care if he blew out the passenger side window and made a mess as he knew the truck could be cleaned and the window and seat replaced. You can get all kinds of them at the auto wrecker for a decent price ;). To DM it was worth the thrill and the bit of money he would have to spend to replace a window and seat. After all, he got a $25k truck for nothing. I bet he didn't realize the seats were joined and he'd have to replace both. :D JMO.

DM is the one who allegedly shot his own father. That to me speaks volumes. When someone has the audacity to murder their own father because of greed, he was willing and eager to do it for a truck also. MS was his lost puppy who just followed him and helped him for a chunk of change. IMO DM was the shooter. Hopefully we will hear if there was any blood evidence found in the Yukon. If not, or if very minuscule amounts were found, to me that would suggest MS was not in the back seat of TB's truck when TB was shot. And we know these two aren't the brightest crayons in the box, an order of fries short of a Happy Meal, but I really don't think DM would have trusted MS with his gun, to fire it under DM's nose (if MS was outside the truck, on the driver's side) while aiming the gun at TB. But that's just ALL MOO.

Bottom line is, I hope they are both found guilty of first degree. Premeditation. MOO.

He says it was either a Yukon of Tahoe.

Mar 8 2016 2:47 PM
In all of the videos there are no hubcaps, he says. Millard's SUV had no hubcaps on it.

Mar 8 2016 2:48 PM
"All we can tell from the video that it's dark in colour," Plaxton says about the later video. The first one where there was more light showed the truck was a dark blue.

  • #212
Has anybody figured out exactly how much time passes between when they left the field in the wrong direction, and when they were caught on camera? Im interested in how much time they spent possibly in another location.

Mar 8 2016 2:49 PM
Court now seeing a photo of Bosma's Dodge Ram, and how it compares to the truck seen in the second video.

Mar 8 2016 2:49 PM
This was the truck seen going in front of the SUV.

Mar 8 2016 2:50 PM
There's also a comparison to the running lights. The truck seen in the video had running lights on.

Mar 8 2016 2:51 PM
The chrome running board that Bosma's truck had was also seen on the vehicle in the video.

Mar 8 2016 2:52 PM
Plaxton says "the two vehicles are consistent," but he doesn't have enough information to say it's the Bosma truck in the video.

He believes the vehicles are similar make and model. That being a GMC Yukon or a Chevy Tahoe.

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 36s36 seconds ago
The 2nd video from Super Sucker shows a truck like #TimBosma's followed closely by SUV like #Millard's. Also recreated with M's Yukon

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 3m3 minutes ago
In security images, vehicle had no hubcaps. Millard Yukon was missing its hubcaps.

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 3m3 minutes ago
Expert is less certain but says vehicles in video are same or similar make/model as those owned by #Bosma & #Millard

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 39s39 seconds ago
Plaxton now comparing truck seen in still from May 6 video to a photo of #Bosma's truck.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 34s34 seconds ago
Lead vehicle in 2nd video has chrome rims. #Bosma truck had chrome rims. Lead vehicle had running light on roof. So does Bosma truck.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 23s23 seconds ago
Points out similarities: chrome rims/running boards, running lights. Can't say same vehicles but says they are consistent. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 46s46 seconds ago
There are no inconsistencies between the two, he says. #Bosma

Now security video from Bobcat of Brantford Ltd, near where #Bosma phone was found.

Mar 8 2016 2:52 PM
Now looking at video of Bobcat of Brantford, Inc.

Mar 8 2016 2:53 PM
This is close to where Tim Bosma's cellphone was found.

Mar 8 2016 2:55 PM
To clarify the previous stuff for anyone who is confused: Plaxton's comparison showed that an SUV consistent with Millard's Yukon was following a truck consistent with Bosma's truck.

***585 Oak Park Rd....same street as Kemira Water Solutions.

The Super Sucker surveillance video is from 9:20pm. I don't believe the neighbour was certain of the time he saw the trucks leaving the field....I've seen tweets ranging from 9pm-9:30pm. And I believe cellphone records have the Bates phone calling TB phone at 9:05pm. HTH

Mar 8 2016 2:59 PM
Plaxton timed a drive from Supersucker in Ancaster to Brantford near where the phone was found. It took about 20 minutes.

Mar 8 2016 3:00 PM
The same two vehicles from before were seen on video surveillance at the Bobcat dealership at around 9:49 p.m.

Andreww has speculated DM was driving when TB was shot. Why do you speculate that Andreww, just curious?

I just speculated that it was a possibility. They drive to the field, DM pulls the gun and says something like "be cool, we're taking your truck. Don't move or I'll kill you. Smith gets in the other vehicle. The trucks pull away, the plan being to leave TB in the middle of nowhere without a phone. Tim contemplates the situation while Millard drives and decided to make his move when he believes Millard is distracted. The reason I theorize this is that no glass was found in the field and the witness testified that he didn't see any sort of a ruckus going on.

This could be the only possible scenario where one of them wasn't actually present, however as others have pointed out, if he's killed during a kidnapping they are both still guilty.
