Thank you snooper ... now I see that SC DID in fact say that, so my apologies to inbetweendoors and other members.

The way the original tweet/retweet was posted, it did not appear that way to me. I've now seen it directly on SC's twitter and it is clear.

I shall take a few minutes to finish eating my crow.

Yes, it was unclear without that tweet: DM told CD that DM and RB were going to go into the pet incineration business together, and CD is RB's neighbour so of course CD had a chance to mention this business scheme to RB. RB was "blown away".

I'm so glad this issue was clarified because I thought it read as CD was going into business with DM. Still, having said that, I do think if CD would mention this business idea to RB, odds are he also mentioned it to his bookkeeper wife, LW, and IMO, she would have then had an idea of precisely what the Eliminator invoice was for, IMO.

Maybe CD and LW don't communicate as typical husbands and wives, so I could be wrong, but I bet I'm not, IMO. lol

Well thank you, I can see exactly what you are getting at. You don't want someone to ask blah blah blah and have a reporter give just a yes or a no to it. You want to hear it in the reporter's own professionally chosen, accurate words. That's why we shouldn't post questions from the common person.

I'm sure that incinerator invoice got all of LW, CD and RB talking. But what then? What do you do with the knowledge that your nephew's got an incinerator before you know what he's really doing with it?

Yeah right, he hadn't heard of the Bosma case by then. Seems a lot of Millard's pals didn't watch TV, listen to the radio or read the paper, because from May 6-10 this was BIG news in these parts. I think all these guys knew exactly what was going on and simply turned a blind eye.

We knew about it all the way in BC. Big news here too.

If he listened to the radio at all, he would have known! There was no escaping SB's pleas and the media blitz around his disappearance! Even in a coffee shop, I heard about it, at Wal Mart in the line up, I heard it. It was plastered ALL over FB as well!! Sorry, I don't buy it unless he's a hermit with no social media devices!

He saw the truck, but didn't connect it to the Bosma case, he said. He could have heard about the case, without the accompanying visuals. It's quite possible he didn't see pictures of the truck. I didn't either (until much later).

So, had I seen it in the driveway of the local chop shop, I would not have recognized it.

So is this leading to the "reason" the eliminator was purchased?
It was proposed as a wild theory by a poster on WS quite early on. Ironic to hear this discussed in real life.

That was me back in August 2013 .... I suggested the remote possibility that DM bought the eliminator for a pet cremation business .... that would be about the only way he could avoid the appearance it was bought for human cremation

Yet in all these years we have never heard of DM advertising a pet cremation service or animal disposal service

I think the Crown is addressing that now in case defense tries to claim it was for pets .... and it is a clever strategy by the crown .... who better for DM to consult about pet cremations than uncle Robert .... and uncle Robert said he never heard of it.

Makes me think the lawyers read my post #715 back then .... haaaa

"It was sitting on a tarp. There was carpet on the tarp, pulled out of the vehicle."

who is going to ask if there was blood on the carpet? ......

Probably neither the Crown nor the defense. That's a key question which, before you ask, you'd really want to know how he's going to answer.

During a separation of Millard's parents, his uncle cared for Dellen when he was 15 to 17 years old, on and off #Bosma

As a kid after his parents split (Millard's mom is Burns's sister), Burns cared for Millard. Sporadically, from age 3 to 17. #Bosma

When Dellen was 3 to 15, spent lots of time with him because parents separated. Later reunited...neighbour Charles Dubiens had computer biz.

bbm red

I had never heard that the parents reunited after so many years ...?!? - Well, DM is an accused murderer and no excuse for what he probably did. But his childhood incl. teenager years as an only child seem to have been pretty difficult. IMO

I agree. I know many people who were not aware of this case including my adult kids. It depends on what someone focuses on and is interested in, IMO. A lot of young people especially do not get caught up by news such as this. IMO, there is nothing extraordinary about someone not having information about the truck or the crime.

Agree entirely. Also many young people do not watch news on TV or listen to radio news. They focus on what they're interested in via the internet.

FWIW, Spencer Hussey seemed like an ambitious, nice, go-getting young man looking to set up a business and in need of seed capital.

That's incredible, ArnieM!

I'm glad the Crown brought this line of questioning up first too.

I am waiting to hear what CD has to say on the stand. As per RB's testimony today we know RB has had no contact with DM since July 2012, the same month the Eliminator was purchased. I wish we knew precisely when CD mentioned to RB about the pet cremation business idea that RB was supposed to be interested in starting with DM. I'm the suspicious type and wonder if DM simply used CD (unwittingly or otherwise) to plant that idea around to help him cover his tracks (after LB), or was it even later after the heat was on him for TB? I will be very interested to learn more from CD.

Some random thoughts in no particular order:

As for those who may have not heard about the Bosma case at the time, I suspect there were many. In fact, they probably did hear about it in passing, maybe saw a headline or something but didn't actively read any of the posts on social media or watch tv news, or read newspapers (how many young people read news papers these days anyway? Or sit down and watch television news?). In which case they wouldn't have really known any details, seen the pics of the truck, etc. My oldest daughter went for a couple of years intentionally not reading news & adjusted her social media streams to keep "news" out - she was that fed up with horrible things happening in the world. (She's now a rather die-hard social activist, go figure).

I find it rather curious that DM's uncle RB called DM's circle of friends his "entourage". I'd love to know if he said it sarcastically or matter-of-fact. Based on the tweets alone, it sounds like there is genuinely no love lost between uncle and nephew.

Lie, after lie, after lie, after lie. Between buying Tim's truck in KW and starting the pet cremation business, calling himself Evan instead of his given name, and everything else (not to mention the lies he initially told to LB's friend when he was looking for her), it seems lying comes as natural as breathing and blinking to DM. Say whatever you need to say to get what you want - and/or cover you own hide - at any given time. No doubt there are more lies he told to those closest to him, including SS and CN. I hope, like most people who find out they've been lied to, they're angry about that and desire to make the truth known, when they take the stand.

Hussey seems extremely naive and I have a feeling may have potentially been suckered out of $5000 and/or his life. Getting paid 12.50/hour? Really?

Other thoughts: Getting Hussey and SS to go to a swamp in the wintertime to try and pull out the excavator is ridiculous. DM was able to get two grown men to actually attempt this?

Smich cleaning toilets after his friends...this tells me Smich was paying DM back for free rent? Other favours?

SH seems to have an impressive LinkedIn profile (which also mentions his time working for DM). It's good to see him doing so well!

  • #420
If you were a bum, DM would be a great guy to know. He paid better than minimum for very light manual labour. Low pressure: kinda like work, kinda like hanging out. MS probably would have otherwise been swinging from one temp agency labourer job to another.

Interesting to head RB describe DM and his entourage: RB recognizes that DM is the center of the gang. He's the leader and the one that calls the shots.
