Sachak suggests #Millard put him on payroll in 2012 to help him solve his tax problems. Villada agrees #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 1m1 minute ago
Villata agrees the reason he was put on the payroll by Millard was for the automatic deductions in order to solve Villata's tax problem

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 50s50 seconds ago
Millard told Villada he would help him solve his tax problems...Villada knew Millard was moving to Riverside apartment unit that he owned.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 36s36 seconds ago
Now talking about renos at Riverside Dr building. Specifically on unit 2 which DM planned to live in. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 9s10 seconds ago
So Unit 2 was made specially for Millard: taller counters, sound-proofed ceiling, extra parking, big balcony.

Is it Villada, or Villata?

I see both coming from sources in the courtroom.

AC uses Villata

Sachak now asking if he knew that Millard was planning to move a unit at Millard's Riverside property. "That was the idea, yes," Villata says.
by Adam Carter 10:38 AM

Villata says he did renovations inside the unit specially for Millard. Soundproofing, extra tall counters, extra parking, etc.

For ex. there Villada installed extra tall counters, extra parking out front, soundproof ceiling, started work on an extra large balcony.

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 8s9 seconds ago
Villata agrees he customized one the apartments at Millard's Riverside property because his boss was going to move in one day #TimBosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 35s35 seconds ago
There was also work done outside -- a new driveway, landscaping etc. Villada didn't do that work but he supervised the workers. #Bosma

I saw an official court document use "Villada". And the business name was "Villada Homes".

Sachak is doing his best to make DM sound broke IMO. Late payments and unpaid expenses etc. Unpaid income tax which is the business that is to pay the government the employees income tax cpp and EI likely in this case monthly. As well I imagine that HST hasn't been filed either.

Villada reno'd an apt in bldg #Millard owned on Riverside Dr, TO; extra tall counters, soundproof ceiling, extra parking. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 36s37 seconds ago
Jury has heard #Millard planned to live in the unit. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 30s31 seconds ago
Upgrades included extra tall counters, sound proof curling and extra parking #Bosma #TimBosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 13s14 seconds ago
Three parking spots created in back of Riverside unit, interlocking stone walkway, tall wooden fence...

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 11s11 seconds ago
Sachak running through list of "a great deal of work" done in/outside that Riverside unit. #Bosma

Red Dodge Ram parking only? (either of the red rams)

I'm assuming he's trying to rack up some brownie points for DM.

But failing in my eyes.

This outstanding citizen , helped a man go home to see family, sent him on trips to retrieve stuff for him. Allowed him to pay him for a piece of garbage apartment, pay for the use of vehicles where he could have just gone the route most people do and buy/lease a better vehicle for much much less from a reputable source. Gave him the assurance of a thriving business, didn't pay him on time (and what would that matter when it seems like 95% of that pay would be going right back to DM)... etc, etc.

Javier should have charged Millard 40 bucks an hour for tutoring him in Spanish.

DM is broke but doing all these upgrades to his own place to move in....

Slightly off-topic, but are there any posters of an above-average height here that could answer this - would extra-tall counters be beneficial enough to outweigh the possible loss in future rentability of the unit to average-height people? Or would this be a desirable selling feature to tall people? I'm a below-average short person, so I have no idea how the other side lives :)

Interlocking stone, tall wooden fence, increased parking...

It was "special," Sachak says. Higher end stuff bc DM was going to live there

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 14s15 seconds ago
Certainly nicer than your unit, Sachak says. Yes obviously, Villada agrees. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 26s26 seconds ago
Correction: sound proof ceiling not "sound proof curling." Lousy iPhone autocorrect...

The other reporters except Susan Clairmont And Molly Hayes use the spelling with the letter T.

Edited to add: That I have seen so far.

The bldg had 6 units. Villada lived in one. Unit #2 was getting high-end treatment because it was meant for #Millard

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 49s50 seconds ago
Now talking about Maplegate house in Etobicoke where Millard had lived with his dad. Villada built patio there.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 25s26 seconds ago
Dellen always liked a nice patio or deck on his properties, suggests Sachak.

Yes. My back gets sore using normal height counters. Can always move counter lower later if he moved out

I could be wrong but didn't JV mention giving his SIN number to DM for the setup of the home business? If so, who knows how or if DM used that number to setup the business. Seems weird and unusual he would use a contractor's info who wasn't getting ownership in the business. To me, that's where this could be relevant. It furthers the concept that DM just used and abused people to get what he wanted and also how he wasn't a very competent buisness man. And it also means that if JV's SIN # was used in ways unknowningly to him, that the CRA could've come looking for taxes that were owed under his name. all MOO.

  • #57
I'd assume the Crown would object if it wasnt relevant? I just cant figure it out?

Yeah, I have no idea of the relevance here, it's just making DM look half-arsed as usual, and making me feel sorry for the guy on the stand. Maybe that's the point.

A bunch of work was done in the back yard of the unit as well, Sachak says.
by Adam Carter 10:43 AM

Sachak now asking about a hose that was left running at the Maple Gate property. The water was running there for ten hours at Millard's behest.
by Adam Carter 10:50 AM

Sachak says this was to see if water would accumulate there.

There was also a house in "#Burlington, or #Oakville, I use them interchangeably." Sachak. #Millard's #TO lawyer. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 7s8 seconds ago
There were plans to build a back deck at Riverside. Coming out of unit 2, Villada agrees. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 34s34 seconds ago
Sachak: you recall draining the hose in the backyard. There was an empty space there where water was collecting. Villada says yes #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 35s35 seconds ago
Villada says he built the patio behind Millard's house in Etobicoke

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 14s14 seconds ago
It was soil. DM wanted to see how much water would pool there, Sachak says. Villada says that's not reason he gave, doesn't know why. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 14s14 seconds ago
And the reason he ran the hose for 10 hours was because milled wanted to see how much water would accumulate in the recently landscaped yard

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 27s28 seconds ago
V says I suppose that's why (he asked him to run the hose all day--min. 10 hours). 3 hoses. #Bosma
