Sachak now asking about the trip to the race in Baja, Mexico.

Mar 31 2016 3:03 PM
They had to wait in a line at the border and fill out lots of paperwork, Schlatman says.

Mar 31 2016 3:04 PM
It would have been quicker and less paperwork with an open trailer over the closed on they had, Schlatman says.

When they got into Mexico, they met other race drivers and co-drivers and mechanics. "Camaraderie," Sachak says. Schlatman agrees. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 25s26 seconds ago
They towed their cars in using open trailers because it's quicker, they learned. Way less paperwork. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 5s6 seconds ago
Talked with other Baja drivers. They towed cars in with open trailers because it's easier to cross border.

Millard did have an open trailer. It was not a fifth wheel. That could carry a jeep or other vehicle, Sachak says. Schlatman agrees. #Bosma

#Millard, Schlatman & Michalski had trouble at Mexican border heading to Baja race; other racers recommended open trailer not 5th wheel

Sachak suggests he likely couldn't even remember word for word what he asked him 15 mins ago. Again Schlatman agrees. #Bosma

So there goes the credibility of any witness who has ever testified in a court of law?

Open trailer would also be more fuel efficient, Sachak says Schlatman told Millard. Schlatman agrees. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 3m3 minutes ago
Open trailer also lighter, so more fuel efficient. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 9s10 seconds ago
Schlatman agrees he knows how to switch out an ignition. Could do that then drive car away without key. #TimBosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 14s14 seconds ago
Sachak asks about his skills--he could remove an ignition and replace it with a new one so as to start it without a key. Schlatman agrees.

Any idea why they just spent so much time on the trailer stuff?

So there goes the credibility of any witness who has ever testified in a court of law?

Yeah, I really despise it when they go down the "But really, what is truth?" kind of rabbit-hole.

Millard did have an open trailer, Schlatman says.

Mar 31 2016 3:08 PM
Schlatman says he has the skill to remove the ignition of a truck and install a new one and start it without a key. "It's not something that's difficult for you?" Sachak says. "No," Schlatman answers.

Mar 31 2016 3:09 PM
He had done this for Millard with his jeeps, he says.

Mar 31 2016 3:10 PM
Sachak wants to address "notion" that Schlatman worked for Millard, he says.

Mar 31 2016 3:10 PM
He says that Millard's father was the "head honcho" of MillardAir.

"That's why he wanted it portable -- to put it in a truck and just go vet to vet to vet."

Ridiculous! Most vets want the remains sent away, and not set up outside the business. I know our vet is located in a strip mall.

For a 75 pound animal, wasn't it several hours to cremate in the Eliminator? How much to tow, and cremate using this business model?

And I will bet it is 100% illegal to openly burn animal carcasses wherever the hell you want, especially ones that had a disease of some sort. And how long did it take for the incinerator to heat up enough to work? Hours? So is he firing this up in the morning and then driving vet to vet with this thing blazing out the back? Do the kids gather around the parking lot and watch Uncle Dell throw dead pets into the incinerator? This line of questioning is ridiculous and frankly, insulting to anyone with common sense. Let's not forget the jury is made up of people like all of us...they are not falling for this crap. MOO

Well apparently an open trailer is better for transporting vehicles (more fuel efficient) so if DM was keeping everything out in the open, shouldn't he have used the uncovered trailer to park TB's truck in MB's driveway? ;)

Oh snap. ;)

Meanwhile: Is the ignition thing meant to plant the idea of SS as a bad guy?

"This whole thing about not to take orders from anyone else, I want to address that," Sachak says. "Did he tell you if his dad asks you to do something for him, don't do it?" "No, he didn't," Schlatman says.

Mar 31 2016 3:12 PM
There were some issues with the maintenance repair and overhaul people who were hired, Schlatman said.

Mar 31 2016 3:13 PM
"When Dell said not to listen to anyone else, he's talking about other employees who worked for MillardAir," Sachak says. Schlatman agrees.

Mar 31 2016 3:14 PM
There were cars that Millard's father and grandfather owned that were in the hangar when the business was in Toronto, Schlatman says.

Mar 31 2016 3:15 PM
"Even before Wayne Millard's death, personal vehicles were stored in the airport in Waterloo," Sachak says, and Schlatman agrees.

Sachak asking about Wayne Millard, and if Dellen had told him not to listen to anyone but him. Schlatman says no he never said that. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Crown on March 21 elicited Schlatman worked for Dellen Millard, but Dellen's father Wayne Millard was ultimately in charge until his death.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 44s45 seconds ago
When Dell said not to listen, he was referring to MRO people who were working for Millardair, Sachak says. Schlatman agrees. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 57s58 seconds ago
In fact, Sachak says, Wayne would ask him to work on his cars. Schlatman agrees he did. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 46s47 seconds ago
Schlatman also fixed Wayne Millard's cars.

I think Sachak is helpfully reminding us that if DM just wanted to steal a truck, he could have easily done so with SS' help. He's reminding us that his sicko client wanted to kill as much as he wanted the truck.

Sachak suggests Millard's father and grandfather similarly had cars in the hangar--there was nothing unusual about having cars in the hangar

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 36s37 seconds ago
Schlatman agrees. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 21s22 seconds ago
Schlatman agrees he also did auto work for #Millard Sr (Wayne) while he was alive. Always lots of cars in hangars incl old one in TO

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 32s32 seconds ago
Even before Wayne Millard's death, Schlatman was working on cars. #Bosma

Only the ones who choose to agree with a defense attorney manipulating their statements because they've been coached to do so.

Sachak says a "tiny portion" of the 50,000 square foot hangar at the Waterloo Airport was set up for Millard's projects.

Mar 31 2016 3:16 PM
"To suggest that this autobody shop you had took up the entire hangar would be false." Sachak says. "Yes," Schlatman says.

Mar 31 2016 3:17 PM
There was a Ford Mustang Cobra, A mini cooper, a seado, a few jeeps and other vehicles at the Waterloo hangar, Sachak says.

Yeah but does he have a receipt for it? ;)

I think Sachak is helpfully reminding us that if DM just wanted to steal a truck, he could have easily done so with SS' help. He's reminding us that his sicko client wanted to kill as much as he wanted the truck.

I just find this all really confusing. I've been wanting to see DM come to justice for a long time, but despite that I'm actually pretty good at analyzing things objectively, and I'm very good at parsing people's language and word choices for subtext. Maybe it's the info dropout from twitter, but I very frequently cannot figure out what point the defense lawyers are making, or in what way they are trying to influence the jury. As you point out, so much of what they say seems like it could easily backfire the opposite direction. Sachak in particular seems to have zero finesse.
