Dungey asks about a trailer that appeared. Schlatman said he had 10-12 already. Again, agrees he didn't ask Qs just did what he was told.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 30s31 seconds ago
Millard already had 10-12 trailers, but brought in another with the Harley. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 17s17 seconds ago
Schlatman says 2 or 3 times he showed up and there were new trailers there. Didn't ask where they came from. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC now
Dungey bringing up many examples of vehicles suddenly appearing at work and grilling Schlatman on why he never asked where they came from.

It wasn't a new Harley. "Again he comes in with a new piece of equipment, and you don't ask any questions as to where it comes from?" Dungey says. Schlatman says he never checked the VIN numbers.
by Adam Carter 11:07 AM

"Two or three times" Schlatman came to work and there were new trailers in the hangar, he says. There were 12 trailers or so there in the hangar.

A wood chipper showed up one day too. "Did you ask any questions as to where this came from?" Dungey asks. "No sir ... he's the rich guy with the money," Schlatman says.
by Adam Carter 11:10 AM

A cement floor buffer also showed up one day, Schlatman says.
by Adam Carter 11:10 AM

Schlatman says he was questioned by police about the Bobcat and the Harley.
by Adam Carter 11:11 AM

"They questioned you in regards to the ownership of these two pieces of equipment, right?" Dungey says. Schlatman says yes.

Dungey asking now about a motorcycle that appeared in the hangar one day. #Bosma

* wondering is TD is setting SS up with the bobcat & bike (vs. future testimony on a chop shop?)

Alex Pierson ‏@AlexpiersonAMP 52s52 seconds ago
Shlatman never questioned all the cars. Vehicles coming in to Millard air. And didn't question Bosmas truck. @AM900CHML #TimBosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 49s49 seconds ago
Schlatman says DM had talked about building a chopper style bike so figured it was part of that project. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 43s43 seconds ago
Another day used Harley-Davidson and trailer showed up. Schlatman says Millard told him he bought it.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 33s33 seconds ago
It was a Harley. "You don't ask any questions as to where it came from?" Dungey asks. Schlatman says not that he can remember, no. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 28s28 seconds ago
Once, a Harley bike & trailer appeared. Schlatman never asked questions. #TimBosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 35s35 seconds ago
Schlatman never checked out VIN numbers. #Bosma

A chop shop is not someone who steals things for their own personal use. I also wondered if the reason why DM knew that road where he stopped at Brantford Bobcat was because he's scoped that place out before for trailers and other things that he can hook up and drive away with. I wonder if that is where he got this bobcat that he had SS remove the GPS unit from. I assume that is the one that was found at the farm. I posted last night that while I don't believe they were running a chop shop, I do believe a lot of things that were easy to steal with a stealth Yukon and a trailer hitch were probably found in there such as the woodchipper and various trailers etc.

Shlatman reveals there were 10-12 trailers. Multiple vehicles. He never questioned it. Never asked why so many. @AM900CHML #TimBosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 4m4 minutes ago
Dungey suggests there were tools that would show up. Schlatman does not remember that. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 3m3 minutes ago
A wood chipper, Dungey suggests. Schlatman agrees yes there was a wood chipper. Can't remember when it showed up. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 3m3 minutes ago
Again didn't ask Qs. "No sir, he's the rich guy with the money. I figured there'd be a purpose for it somewhere." #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 3m3 minutes ago
Also a cement mixer. Had no knowledge of it before and again didn't ask Qs. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 3m3 minutes ago

Strange that the Crown can't ask without objections but TD is going the stolen vehicle route and Pillay is saying nothing.

They wanted to know where they came from, right? Dungey asks.
Yes, Schlatman says.
That's still ongoing? D asks.

Anyone else getting the feeling that TD is backing SS right into position to throw DM right under the bus?

Yup! As he should be, that's his job. To get his client out from under the bus. IMO, DM's layers (along with SM lawyer) are doing a great job of keeping DM under the bus!

Also, I speculated before about SS's 15 min LE questions being in regards to chop shop stuff. Just didn't think it would be brought up in this trial.

Anyone else getting the feeling that TD is backing SS right into position to throw DM right under the bus?

Or under the trailer? Bobcat? Wood Chipper? Not sure if they actually stole a bus. ;)

  • #55
Either SS is as dumb as a stump or he's lying through his teeth. Either way, I suspect the members of the jury are finding his answers rather interesting.

"You cannot use bad character evidence ... to find Dellen Millard guilty of an offence," Goodman says.
by Adam Carter 11:16 AM

Dungey now asking about removing the ignition from a vehicle to start it.
by Adam Carter 11:17 AM

"These were things Mr. Millard would have learned from you, right?" Dungey asks. Schlatman says yes, he would have showed Millard to do "basic automotive work, but not hot wiring.

Schlatman says he doesn't know how to Hotwire a car. He does know how to change an ignition which he taught Millard. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 37s37 seconds ago
Schlatman says you used to be able to hotwire a vehicle like that, but not now. He says he doesn't know how to hotwire a vehicle.

Dungey: Re: working pattern, you went in every day.
Yes, Schlatman says. #Bosma

Or under the trailer? Bobcat? Wood Chipper? Not sure if they actually stole a bus. ;)

Given enough time I'm sure that would have been on the list, eventually.

Dungey asks if he found May 7 text (not to go to airport even to pick something up) unusual. Schlatman agrees he did. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 31s31 seconds ago
Schlatman worked Monday to Friday. Unusual to get May 7 text from Dell telling him not to go to hangar due to "airport politics."

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 22s23 seconds ago
He worried it was something he did, but Millard told him no don't worry about it. #Bosma
