You have to remember that DM was educated in French.

I understand that the school he attended teaches a full bilingual program.
ADD: I looked it up. It teaches mostly in French but there is a bilingual component and gr. 11 onward, students can choose to take classes entirely in English.

I just have to say that if DM wasn't such a psychopath and lived a life where he never harmed anyone he might have become a successful writer.

You mean comedy???

  • #163
Call me old fashioned. I believe a real writer does not require an outside editor. Not unlike uneducated ex-athletes, for example, who "write" bios and need someone to basically write/edit the whole thing for them. As a poster said previously, the internet is full of DM type writers. Value = Zero.

You'd be wrong about "real" writers not needing editors. A writer who doesn't use an editor is like a criminal who represents himself in court.

He can't spell but he's got an interesting grasp on imagery.

And of course you have to realize how much badly-written tripe gets published even by the big-name publishers.

Re: the letters

So is the consensus that MB held them up to the glass for DM to read? Is this even allowed?

I highly doubt that. That would be pretty obvious wouldn't it? Plus he talks about putting parts of letters in his cell, so he must have physically had them. Maybe she hid them in a pot of honey?

I don't see it that way at all. I think she is playing up the character of being a poor girl being played. Her mannerisms and tone on the stand seem so rehearsed to fit this "poor girl smitten by love" that she is using to hide behind. She had to have known he was seeing other women. He was engaged when she said they were exclusive.
jmo

'Blinded by Love' is her November defence, I bet. That's why she elected to be tried by a judge. I dunno - I think, going that route, she would have more chance with a jury. Judges have seen it all. IMO

ETA: especially if she lands a female judge!

These letters are priceless. What an idiot he was to have written them. I'm sure his attorneys were impressed too.

Fly on the wall when he learned they were seized, right? LOL

Even Stephen King had a proof reader.

He is apparently growing a beard waiting for his lawyer to visit, so I think that squashes that avenue...

How so? CN has said that at times, she might only get letters once a month.
He says that he has been growing a beard at the same time he talks about a visit whisking off the letters. I wondered of the implication that he was thinking of his lawyer visit that he had grown the beard for that would take the letters. Maybe not.

We are back.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 2m2 minutes ago
We're back. Noudga's mom is with her again today. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
Noudga & jury are back. Crown is asking about code names in the letters.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Leitch asks if Snogg and Snoff in Millard letters are same people? She is not sure. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
Leitch asks Noudga about "Snogg" mentioned in an earlier letter--is that the same person as "Snoff" (his code for Hagerman)? She's not sure.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 16s16 seconds ago
Next letter. Jan 2, 2014. Tells her he did his first handstand on his knuckles. Says he was inspired by Old Boy movie. #Bosma

May explain why CN was getting 7 letters at a time? IMO, I cannot see any way that MB was getting letters in and out of DM's hands- maybe having him read some up against the glass, but IMHO, the actual physical letters had to be from someone who had special privileges and then passed onto MB for distribution. Still wondering how many people DM was communicating with. MOO

She doesn't need a defence. All she has to do is deny any knowledge of a crime before he was arrested. She was just helping him move a trailer and store his stereo. She doesn't have to come up with any reason why she acted as she did, just stick to the script and she'll be fine.

Now seeing a letter from Jan 2, 2014. In it, Millard is talking about learning to do a handstand on his knuckles.
by Adam Carter 11:56 AM

Noudga says she "probably was" still sending him back messages of love at that time.
by Adam Carter 11:58 AM

In another letter from January, Millard says that he gave an interview to a reporter. He tells Noudga not to talk to any reporters - "not yet."

Jan 2 letter. "today I did my first handstand on my knuckles." 12 seconds. Against a wall. Working on headstand-handstand pushup

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 2m2 minutes ago
Jan. 2. "Today I did my first hand stand on my knuckles...I'm working on a headstand to handstand push up. I can't do it yet..."

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
He tells her in detail how he is working toward a headstand. He tells her he can do a handstand push-up. "**** yea." #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 2m2 minutes ago
Later in letter says he achieved the handstand pushup. He is excited. Says he misses Noudga in Ukrainian, tells her to destroy the letter

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 2m2 minutes ago
Jan. 5: "I can do a handstand push-up! I'll try again to be sure — Yup!"

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
Again he finishes with "*destroy these letters.*" Noudga says at this point she was still in love with him and writing back to him. #Bosma

Well let's see now, exactly how many people had direct access to DM, that would be able to physically hand him a letter or receive one from him, written to CN, and do it in a way that no one saw it? I think this narrows our pool down to... one person.

Noudga says she was still sending love letters too. Millard: "My case made the front page in Hamilton yet again."

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
Next one says Jan 5 but she says it's Jan 1. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
He tells her he did an interview and told a reporter he loves her. He says he asked the reporter not to name her. #Bosma

Ann Brocklehurst ‏@AnnB03 1m1 minute ago
Are Ukrainian numbers really that hard to translate? Question form #TimBosma trial

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
He then tells her "don't talk to any reporters: not at all, not yet." #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
"Unlike others, I actually gave an interview for this one. The reporter knew your name and who you are to me."

No jury would have any sympathy for her "I don't know, I don't remember, I didn't ask" line of testimony. A judge just has to look at the facts in evidence and we assume will make a judgment based solely on those.

Which is why DM and MS have not opted to go this route. ;)

Millard says she might talk to reporters at some pt so they should prepare. "I'll play reporter and you write me your answers."

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Jan. 1: "My case made the front page in Hamilton yet again. Unlike others I actually have an interview for this one.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
He says there may be time that an interview would be useful--and adds "I think it would be prudent to prepare." #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
Noudga says she didn't play the reporter game.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
He says "I'll play the reporter, you write me your answers -- Reporter: so who is he? What kind of person is he?" #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 53s53 seconds ago
The reporter knew in advance, your name and who you are to me. The only question that I answered was that I love you. .

Ya, I think that's my hang-up with this point. It blows my mind how many people around him are so willing to be so brazen. You are the sum of the 5 people closest to you, I suppose... MOO.

He also talks about preparing. "I'll be the reporter, you write me your answers." Noudga says she didn't respond to that request.
by Adam Carter 12:00 PM

"You think I'd be a wonderful father? Aww, thank you," Millard writes. "I thought that he would be a good father," Noudga says.
by Adam Carter 12:01 PM

"I can tell you with absolute certainty that if I ever found a woman that deserved me, then I would the best mate that the human race has to offer," Millard wrote.
