I'm guessing it was bs to SS to cover the eliminator being used for LB.
I am thinking the same thing. No deer but had to make up an excuse for the ash in the incinerator from LB.

It's no excuse, it's a very commonly used word to refer to modifying. Sure he could have been referring to dismemberment, but he could have also been referring to modifying the machine in some way to make it mobile, since it wasn't a mobile unit.
Tested on a deer... I want to know the date of that text!
I understand the Crown dancing around the dates a bit. He isn't allowed to mention Laura.
No it does not make sense... for one killing.
However, neither the gun, nor the incinerator, were disposable items. So the capital cost could be amortized across multiple homicides. If LE had not caught DM and MS, they would have continued.
LB, TB, Victim c,Victim d,Victim e,Victim f,Victim g etc, bigger more dangerous missions per DM to AM.
Smich says "perhaps" Smich buried the gun never to be recovered. "Mark Smich got rid of that gun around May 19, 2013 ... he buried the gun used to murder Tim Bosma. The gun in a toolbox, in a forest. Getting rid of evidence that would implicate him and Dellen Millard."

Leitch running through some of the other texts here too, like the aborted attempt to get lawn mowers, and swiping the Bobcat.

Leitch says when Millard wanted to steal something, he took precautions. It also shows he wanted to take what he wanted without paying. "He just liked to steal things ... he liked to steal, but he now planned to kill as well. Increasing the challenge, and the thrill of it."
