Found Deceased Boulder City woman only known as “Lily” 22, Missing at Lake Mead-Unusual Circumstances -30 June 2022

Okay this is definitely strange. So, if I’m understanding correctly - she was initially reported missing Thursday morning after falling off a jet ski while not wearing life jackets. Man was rescued, she wasn’t seen again. Seems unfortunately rather cut and dry as to what happened, I would think?

But now they are seeking more info about her?

Thoughts/questions:
  • does the man not know who she is? Or is he withholding information for some reason?
  • why were they jet skiing at 6:15am? Is this common at Lake mead? I know sometimes at our lake, my family goes water skiing early in the morning to avoid choppy waters, so maybe this is why, but maybe someone closeby can shed some light on this
  • Are they hoping for her family to come forward by putting this info out, maybe wondering why no one else has reported her missing? But wouldn’t the rescued man inform any loved ones about the accident?
  • why do we (and LE? and jet ski partner?) only know her first name? They state she’s from Boulder City so they know that but not last name?
  • Who called in the accident/who witnessed it?
Clearly there is so much more to this story. Very bizarre.
adtl question about the jet skiing - does this mean she was doing so wearing a white blouse and black yoga pants? Because that seems a bit odd to me as well.
Agree, the survivor male of the jetski incident should b able to tell who he was riding with. Unless he didn't know her beyond first name. all of it is odd

Agree, but I'm talking about after the initial report and days after the investigation began. NPS asked the public for help to identify Lily, that help was provided, as referenced by public posts made on the NPS site. Most times, at that point the agency would make a public announcement saying the missing person has been identified as ... even though the body had not been found yet. Maybe it's because the NPS is not CCSO/LV Metro, protocols are different.
There wasn't really any way they could positively identify the Lilly from the accident and CCTV as the missing Lilly.

I think this is what I'm hung up on the most- the fact that NPS asked for help to identify her by posting very specific info, even down to quite clear images from the convenience store CCTV the day/night before the accident- and the "public" provided information about a missing family member who matched all the descriptions down to the name, tattoo, and identified via CCTV images... it seems odd that NPS is not confirming that she has been identified, or at the very least, it's odd that (to me) that they are still asking for help identifying the missing person. It's not DNA or fingerprint identification, but relatively clear CCTV images, her first name, tattoo... it's a heck of a lot more than it seems like LE has used before to identify victims/missing people.

Below was yesterday’s news report, LE is no longer asking for information. Isn’t it standard that the ME verify the identity of every deceased person? Her body was in the water for almost a week so chances are she was no longer immediately recognizable. There has been prior cases where misidentification of dead bodies pertaining to people who have gone missing has occurred so I’d guess the ME is tasked with making the proper official confirmation, not LE.

“The body of an adult female was recovered near the Boulder Islands on Lake Mead where a Boulder City woman known as “Lily” went missing the morning of June 30.

She was reported missing at around 6:15 a.m. after officials received an emergency call about two people falling off a jet ski. A man who fell off was rescued, but Lily had not been seen since she went into the water…

….The woman’s identity and cause of death will be determined by the Clark County Medical Examiner, and the incident remains under investigation.”

"Found with a remote vehicle" is puzzling to me.

Don't bodies float? Yes, we with ample fat layers most certainly do, was Lily thin enough to sink?

Or perhaps were the remains found with other objects -- as if someone had weighted her body to ensure sinking?

LE is going to be tight-lipped of the remains were tied to cement blocks or something, at least until someone stops talking about a jetski imho.

I thought that 'remote vehicle' description was odd as well. But I figured it was possibly a drone w/cameras, searching for a floating body?

“The body was located with a remotely operated vehicle by National Park Service Rangers and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.”

I think it was NPSR and LVMPD that used a “remotely operated vehicle” to locate the body, possibly a drone? The sentence is awkwardly worded for sure.

Sounds like a drone

Grandmother has a beautiful array of pictures of her granddaughter on her latest FB post---and it is a memorial, saying "Rest In Peace My Beautiful Granddaughter."

So I think the body has been identified and family was notified. :(

Lily Kristine Hatcher has finally been named in MSM.

The Clark County coroner’s office confirmed Friday that the woman reported missing last month at Lake Mead died.

Lily Hatcher, 22, of Boulder City was officially pronounced dead Wednesday by the coroner’s office after her body was found near Boulder Islands on Lake Mead.

Her cause and manner of death were still pending Friday.

Hatcher was reported missing June 30 around 6:15 a.m. when she never resurfaced after falling off a jet ski, according to the National Park Service.

Neither she nor the man with her on the jet ski were wearing a life jacket, the park service said.
