Boy From the Woods

For some reason I don't see the comment posted at 1051:waitasec:

I checked out Andrew Gosden but Andrew is a lot shorter than the mystery boy and Andrew has brown eyes.

I checked for the comment and for me, I had one at 9:51...? I think it depends on what timezone *you* are in, maybe? Not sure, though, if that's the correct comment.

Traditionally, Ryan was an Irish name, but who knows today?

Unless he is retarded, a 12-year-old already has a clear sense of the calendar. I think it would be too late for his father to teach him a different definition of "years".

I have four children, ages 11, 9, 8, and 4. My oldest three are all very bright and have tested high to gifted ranges in intelligence. The 4 year old hasn't been tested, but this morning, she downloaded a movie from Netflix onto our Galaxy tablet.... so I'm guessing she's not too shabby in the brains department, either. lol

However, if I tell them Saturday is Sunday, they will most likely believe it. They may figure it out when they go to school, and it's Monday, but if they didn't go to school, they would believe whatever I told them because they trust me. I could see to where my 11 year old could get the years mixed up.

Also, we know they were "living in the woods," but does that mean they never came out? For all we know, these people could have been making regular trips into towns for supplies, food, possibly even haircuts, but still going back out to the woods. The father could have had a mental condition that made him paranoid/fearful of the public/government/family/etc and they choose to live there. My children would live with me in the woods if I told them to, and told them that someone in "town" would harm them. They love their father and I, and would not run away to be "saved" in town if they had been brainwashed that people were dangerous. If he knows his name, I don't guess there's much mystery at all. They'll soon release the information they know.

No facial hair? I'm not an expert, but don't most boys around that age start shaving?

It shows at 5:51 on mine. "RUMOUR" that Ben's mom was told significant news of her son's disappearance.

Gosh, I hope it's Ben.

Some comments suggest this is not an actual photo of the boy but a computer generated one.

Some boys don't develop facial hairs until late teens 19 or so especially fair skin blonde boys.

Thanks - I was looking at the wrong one. It's 5:51 for me also. I hope it's true...

I wish there was a better photo. The "boy in the woods" appears to have attached earlobes. Ben does not.

However, there are several similarities. The larger space over the left eye, dimples.... Ben's right being larger. The asymmetrical lower lip line.

Ben's FB page asks that there be no more speculation on the page about it, and that the detectives covering the case will take care of it.

I googled pics of Ben's mom, trying to find one of her smiling, since he has a distinctive smile. Not surprisingly, it's tough to find since she's not in the press for a happy event. However, I do see similarities between her features and the photo of the 'boy from the woods'. In an updated age-progressed sketch of what Ben would look like, they show the corners of the mouth turning down slightly.

I hope it's not a hoax, and I hope whoever it is finds their family. It would be great if it's Ben, but - it's been 14 days since the boy appeared from 'the woods'. Seems to me that his mom would already have hopped on a plane and gone to Germany if she thought this were him... JMHO

Who, what, why: How do you identify a mystery person?

The boy said he had been living in the German forest for about five years

He says it is crucial that a British police officer interview the boy as soon as possible.

"They will have the knowledge to identify his accent. They may also be able to pinpoint where he is originally from in the UK. Details that might be meaningless to German police could be picked up by British officers. The boy might, for example, remember living in a place with a cathedral."

But a spokesperson for the German police told the BBC that it was too early to tell whether the boy was British. She said he could be from any English-speaking country, or could have learnt English in Europe, such as in Spain or even Germany.

So what? Just let them talk to the boy. :banghead:

Don't take too much notice of Mark Williams Thomas, from BBC link above. All guesswork and speculation, he is often wheeled out as a space filler in cases such as this

I was trying to locate a picture of Ben's bio dad but I cannot locate one.

I found his name but it's hard to find pictures since it's the same name as an actor (not the same person, though)...

I know I found the same thing! Why isn't there a picture of him anywhere? I mean BN mother has on the official FB page a picture of the Step Dad but not the bio dad! I would think they would have that in case someone suspects they see him like US and can study the facial features.

It seems that he's out of the picture (named redacted by me):

After a brief reunion with Ben’s father, SW, the couple had another child, L in February 1994. L claims she doesn’t have any contact with her father.

The Telegraph is not tabloid is it? Anyway, more interesting details emerge.

"He said he needed help, that he didn't know where to go and had no one in the world to look after him. I tried as much as I could to find out details about where he was from but he just didn't know."

The teenager, who is described as blond and blue eyed and around 5'11", said he only knew that his first name was Ray and that he was 17 years old.

"He had only a few words of German but was completely fluent in English, and said that his father had told him it was an important language," said the civil servant who asked not to be named. "Although he seemed to be a native English speaker, I detected some sort of accent."
