@CajunA - It's an awesome song, particularly so, because of the lyrics. And, yes, Lavergne MADE his own prison. And, I did not pay attention to comments of his body language in the courtroom, so correct me if I am wrong. But I seriously doubt that he held his "head high".
CajunA, thanks for the song. I personally think it should be piped into his prison cell at "The Ponderosa" and played 24/7 as behavior modification therapy.

BBM:

In the Statement in Support of Plea, BSL admits to tackling Lisa and beating her about the face. He also admits to choking her. It is also stated that she died shortly after this attack. Well, he may not say "I killed Lisa" but anyone in their right mind can clearly see that after enduring the things that he did admit to, one would probably be dead. It bothers me too that he wouldn't admit to it...and I think the only reason he didn't is because there is no "proof" that he did...unlike with Mickey...the gun shot and stab wounds. I very much struggle with his plea because I don't believe for one second that its everything...and I just can't seem to get past it. I know I need to and that its my issue...its just very hard. I'm glad Lisa finally got justice too...even if BSL was still skirting the issue...he's pled and now serving his time for it.

From my reading of the statement, BSL admited to the choking/beating but does not admit to putting the plastic bag around her face. Apparently another inmate told police that BSL had told him he had murdered a woman and had suffocated her with a plastic bag. Remnants of a plastic bag were found around Lisa's neck.

I'm glad Lisa has justice. I have to remind myself not to get too upset about BSL's self-serving versions of events since everyone & their Paran knows BSL's versions are not 100% accurate and colored through the lenses of a self-serving psychopath. He ain't fooling anybody.

Lisa did deserve justice, and it was finally granted even if it was almost by default. I totally agree that justice never would have been served for Lisa if BSL had not also murdered Mickey. That makes me sad, too.

Sure, I would've preferred that BSL be forthcoming in Lisa's case, but an explicit recounting of the crime is not a requirement for a guilty plea in Louisiana. So we're left with a halfhearted guilty plea, but guilty just the same. The alternative would have been a murder trial of a 13 year old case with sketchy evidence. LP's family would have been exposed to all of the grisly details, complete with postmortem photos, and experts testifying about the condition of her body and the manner in which the wounds were inflicted. Her name would have been dragged through the mud six ways from Sunday, and the family would be expected to sit through all of it, with no guarantee the jury would return a guilty verdict. Suppose he was acquitted. Can you imagine what a blow that would be? :sheesh:

And, honestly, spending the rest of his natural life on "the Ponderosa" ain't exactly what I'd call skating through it.

You are absolutely correct- life at Angola isn't skating through. What I meant was he got to skate through the confession and holding himself accountable for the 1st Degree Murder of Lisa Pate. I am glad that her justice comes in the form of a LWOP sentence on its own. Does that make sense? He got 2 life sentences: one for Lisa, one for Mickey. I am glad that her family didn't have to sit through a lengthy trial and were spared that one piece of anguish after all the pain BSL is directly responsible for within the Pate family.

This song is one of my favorites!
You are so right...It didn't look like Brandon was keeping his chin up...It looked like the complete opposite of holding your head high in the pictures the news posted of him.

I'm going to be sitting near Warden Cain at the Rodeo OCT 7, and I'm going to google this song on my phone and let him listen to it and suggest that he should make his DJ inmates play it on the prison radio station. But who knows, they may play it sometimes already... but I doubt it.

Head down the whole time. 'ah yuh sir' that's it..stooped & bowed.
Filthy little piece of work.

I can see BSL cleaning the exterior including the bed of his truck with it. Possibly the interior on low pressure. There was probably alot of evidence to try to obliterate in and on his truck! IMO

IIRC....
Wasn't the fire/theft in June? His truck was found burnt at the end of May.

IMO: I think by the time the fire happened he was pre-occupied.

A whole mess of sense. Regardless of how the verdict came to be, BSL is guilty and will pay the penalty for murdering Lisa Pate.

Tizz - Not sure when the burglary and fire were. Was saying that I can see BSL using a pressure washer to clean his truck (whether it be his own pressure washer or one at a car wash or whatever...) Who would want to drive the truck in the condition that it was supposedly in after BSL allegedly being stabbed in it, and more importantly, after Mickey allegedly being stabbed and then shot in the head in it, that's all! :seeya:

Does anyone have an MSM or LE, etc. link that states BSL was interviewed in person regarding his RSO status on 5/28/12? Just wondering due to the APB being already released about the DWT and due to BSL's stab wounds...one would think his RSO officer would have a clue if he appeared in person? Hmmm

I don't know if this is the case in LA, but in the state where I live, a RSO has to get permission from his/her RSO status officer before they can travel out of the county, let alone, out of the state. I wonder if BSL called to let them know (and get permission) that he was going to Texas to visit family or whatever coverup story he invented in order to go burn the truck and claim it was stolen in Texas!

That is...if it was not confirmed that BSL appeared in person at the 5/28/12 RSO status hrg.

All IMOO

I think the song is talking about a man on death row going through years of typical "appeals". The verse saying
No appeal on the docket today
Just my own sin .Shackled by my sentence
Expecting no return
Here there is no penance
My skin begins to burn.

He speaks about his cell walls being cold and the cage made of steel and how screams of his victim fill the room while alone, he drops and kneels.

The part that reminds me of Brandon Is the verse that says "Shoulda been dead on a Sunday morning banging my head" is because May 19th was when Mickey went missing was on a Saturday.

Prolly one of the reasons that the investigative files on the Mickey Shunick investigative have been sealed, S1..imo.
Imo, most folks will be shocked when the truth is eventually revealed of the many blunders that occurred, not only in Mickey's case but especially in the 1999 Lisa Pate murder investigation..
"Lessons learned"..

Guess, it is time to contact MS Media for some updates as to when the investigative info will be unsealed by the Judge, in the Mickey Shunick investigation and BSL's unknown victims, huh?

Yep, I can't imagine that all of the information acquired would have any connection to the other possible cases. I would think some of it could be released. Maybe they are thinking we will just forget about it. NOT!!

By releasing parts you are tipping your hand as much by what is not released. I believe the day will come, just give it time.

RE: By releasing parts you are tipping your hand as much by what is not released.

reedus23, it is very rare for a judge to seal information in a closed investigation. From my experience, this is usually done for political reasons, and is an indicator of information that is too traumatic for the general public to digest. This is due to the predator's victim total; magnitude, longevity, and to lessen the public's outrage due to the lack of public safety.
Imo, it becomes even more suspicious when bits & pieces are released slowly over time; BSL's psychological evaluation.

Brandon S. Lavergne was an identified violent tier 3 RSO in 2000. He was obviously active for over a decade, yet oblivious to Law Enforcement/Investigators and the Justice System which was responsible for monitoring any deviant behavior. One can only be skeptical of the Justice System's motives for the continued silence, imo...

"Food for Thought".. "Wouldn't it seem logical that BSL would have had a psychological evaluation in 1999/2000, when convicted and sentenced to prison for the violent aggravated rape?

"One has to ponder whether BS Lavergne was a Suspect/POI in any of the Jennings Serial KIller Victim investigations"... The close to the vest/antiquated silence strategy by LE was also utilized in this investigation.

The Community Celebration in Honor of Mickey Shunick will begin with several friends sharing their memories of Mickey. The Acadiana Symphony String Quartet will join us on stage during the formal remembrance. City-Parish President Joey Durel will speak to join family and friends in recognition of law enforcement officers, volunteers, donors, university officials, the district attorney’s office, Texas Equusearch, Special K-9s and our community as a whole for this incredible effort and outpouring of love to the Shunick family. Finally, the Shunick Family will give a personal statement to the community.

The next portion of the celebration will consist of live performances from three of Mickey Shunick's favorite local bands. Whole Damn Town will perform first at 1:15, followed by imagineIAM at 2:15, and closing with Rareluth at 3:30. The Community Celebration in Honor of Mickey Shunick will culminate at 4:15pm with a public bike ride following the route Mickey took the morning of May 19th. We are encouraging attendees to either ride or bring their bicycles to Parc International so that they may join the ride. A free “bike corral” will be managed by Bike Lafayette. The ride will conclude with the permanent placement of a “ghost bike” at the end of St. Landry Street, and ninety live Monarch butterflies will be released as a tribute to Mickey. University of Louisiana-Lafayette President Joseph Savoie will join us for the dedication of the ghost bike.
