Bratz production to end.

My son got off work earlier than I did today so I asked him to pick one up for me. Bless his heart. I know he was embarrassed.

At least he didn't have to make that trip to the Girly Aisle.

I am glad to see I am not alone in my dislike of these dolls. When my cousin passed away her girls wanted me to let them go to a bratz website and buy them bratz this and that. I was able to talk them in to something else but everyone thought I was just absurd. I just thought they are growing up way to fast as it is.

My daughter calls them "Hoochie Dolls". I never understood their appeal... big heads, brothel house makeup... clothing that would make you blush if you looked at the dolls too long. And hey... Barbie has her hoochie moments, too... thankfully there are some-what modest Barbies you can buy.

Personally, I'll stick to Tonner dolls. :D

Lol, I wonder how high the original first models will sell for on ebay..............:D

The Tonner dolls are beautiful. I've never seen them before.

My son went to a store called Ross. Everything is pretty much out in the open so he just had to go to the children's dept. , not the girlie aisle. He said standing in line a lady behind him admired the doll and asked could she see it. I guess there are some out there they have no idea what a Bratz is.

I honestly understand that some people wouldn't want their daughters to play with them but I personally don't see anything wrong with them. Maybe I haven't seen the hoochie outfits that you guys are talking about.

Although I do have some that McDonald's gave out with their happy Meals. A couple of them look like street walkers. Leopard print pants, platform shoes and wide brim hats.

Very interesting. I am really surprised Barbie was able to shut down the Bratz machine - I don't know much about the suit, but that's fascinating.

It's obnoxious to call the dolls "Bratz". Past that, I'm not too worked up about them - some folks may perceive Barbie as more "wholesome" but I don't.

If memory serves... the person who created the Bratz dolls worked for Mattel at the time he/she got the idea. Therefore, Mattel claims that the patent (?) for them belongs to Mattel and they should be compensated for the loss of revenue.

I don't think the Bratz dolls look like hoochies, but more like Rock Stars. To me, they look better than the swimsuit Barbies and are much more interesting. At least they don't look Chinese as so many of the fisher price, little dolls, and action figures are looking in the past years. My grand daughter has a few Bratz dolls, but likes Hannah Montana stuff better. Someone mentioned Webkinz, but I can never find any in the stores.

Those glazed, somewhat serpentine'crack 'ho' eyes on those things have always just seemed wrong to me on a very fundamental level.

In a totally unrelated note; Mattel anounced today they're releasing their latest line of dolls called WhorZ. Free shot of pennicillin included with purchase. LOL!

Well yeah they have to do something with all that leftover stock.
I think this is the line that comes with the Scene Club and Rehab play set.
Hey kids! How many different outfits can you come up with to make the doll's ankle monitor seem like a fashion accessorie?:)

I'm kind of surprised (and hurt) by some of the response here. So negative. I thought the toys were kind of weird but cute. I guess I liked them because I felt they sort of resemble me in my looks and dress. My friends kids like them and they have some at my house for when I sit. Its nice to know that I have crack ho eyes, need penecillin and a rehab playset. Seriously, some of that stuff isnt kewl to joke about. And having been on monitored house arrest before, that is nothing fun or funny either.

Don't get upset Carla..(((((Hugs))))))

I was just coming in to say for goodness sakes peoples, its at the end of the day a DOLL

I do not think its going to turn your 5,6,7,8,9, maybe 10 or 11 year old into a hooker or $lutty...

Its a doll, kids take off the clothes and put them back on again..

Sometimes if they have LOTS of outfits and the Bratz bags that house said dolls and outfits they might even *hang up the clothes* *put away the shoes and accessories* therefore learning a valuable life lesson about putting away ones clothes and accessories.

It is a DOLL.

Maybe just Maybe the name for me was a bit off, but then even in real life grown ups use the words Brat. "My tracy is being so bratty this afternoon" said one mother to another at playgroup.

Another Mother observing a child running through the aisle in the supermarkert pulling things off the shelves turned to her own child/ friend/mil/sister etc and said "well what a little brat"

You get the idea!

At the end of the day its a DOLL.

Are we ever just going to let kids be kids without imposing ALL OUR negativity on them ?

This will seriously break many little girls hearts....

Seems to me Barbie got a bit Jealous that Bratz was stealing her thunder
Obviously there just wasn't enough room in the sand pit for both of them...

Hi Carla Lashelle,

I love the Reborn Babies yet many, many people find them repulsive. I've read comments by people describing the babies as creepy, only for sickos, dangerous to ones mental health etc etc.

But that doesn't mean these people hate live babies or are intending to insult live babies. It's a doll, an inanimate object that they are stating their opinion on. Their opinion just differs from mine. Their opinions are not about my baby grandson.

Same is true with the Bratz dolls. Bratz dolls are inanimate objects and people are expressing their personal opinions on the dolls in this thread.

Those are the creepiest looking things but my friends girls love them. When I sit for them thats all they play with. Will have to stock up for xmas before they are gone, i guess.
(my bold)

Carla,

I was reading over the posts to see if anyone had directed offensive remarks at you and saw this post of yours. Am a mite confused now.

................
If people do not want to read/post about the doll or the business/legal aspects which led up to ending production of the doll.....than please pass by the thread.

God bless us, each and everyone.

The Bratz dolls never bothered me and I am sorry to hear about this because my daughters loved (and one still does) them. I have bought many a bratz doll or accessory for them, and would continue to do so as long as they wanted them.
The only thing I disliked about them was the price. Yikes!

I was thinking the same thing. I have a giant case/dollhouse and probably 8 or 9 girlz and boyz and a ton of outfits. $$$$

My 16 year old step-daughter played with them when she was younger.

Well, please don't get offended by what I said... I was just expressing an opinion about an inanimate object... was not my intentions to offend anyone, at all. ( Well, the dolls could get offended by what I said, but again, they are inanimate objects... and rest assured, my daughter is an adult... so it is not a matter of a child saying what she said.) I do hold to my personal view: I do find some of the dolls to be distasteful looking for a child's toy (not all of them... just some. Same goes with some Barbies)... there is just no 2 ways about getting around the fact of how shocking it is, to me, to be walking down a toy aisle and finding a box with a doll dressed in a tight mid-drift shirt, loads of makeup, stilettos and pants that are purposely hanging on the hips around what equates to be the pubic bone area. Being a doll collector, I do have my share of dolls that are scantily cladded... but the difference is: the dolls were not aimed at kids... they come from the collectible market that is aimed at adults.

Guess I am a prude... :(

I picked up my second one today. Well, actually my mom picked it up for me. She's seventy-nine and she thought they were pretty.

When she bought it the cashier said they would be pulling them off the shelf. So they aren't even allowed to sell what they already have in stock? Maybe she was mistaken.

Lizzybeth in the article I read they were saying they are pulling them off the shelves

For me that is a COMPLETE Waste of money

And I can only pray that they give them to orphanages rather than chucking them in the trash

But you know these *bigwigs* more $$$ than sense and after all its the "point of the matter" isnt it

Destroy these traitor dolls!!!!

LOL - great analogy. Those reborns creep me out, but at the same time I get how they can be fascinating to people.
