The body of a South American soap star missing since January has been found stuffed in a trunk and buried in the backyard of a Campo Grande, Brazil, home, according to multiple reports.


According to local media outlet R7, the remains of Jefferson Machado were recovered by Brazilian authorities on Monday. The trunk in which the 44-year-old actor’s body was discovered was encased in cement, the outlet reports.

Suspect arrested in the murder of 'drugged' Brazilian actor

Brazilian actor Jefferson Machado was strangled with a telephone wire by his fugitive friend, Bruno de Souza, according to Jeander da Silva, who was arrested in Rio de Janeiro on Friday.

Police have concluded their investigation into the death of an actor found inside a trunk in Rio de Janeiro.​

The Missing Persons Investigation Department (DDPA) indicted three suspects for the crime and forwarded the investigation to the Justice system this Sunday

Jeff Machado 's body was found inside a trunk buried two meters deep and covered in concrete in a shack in Campo Grande, in the West Zone of Rio, on May 24th.

Jeander Vinícius Braga was arrested on June 2nd. Then, on June 15th, Bruno de Souza Rodrigues was found and arrested in Morro do Vidigal . The third person indicted by the police is Jorge Augusto Barbosa Pereira, who is currently free.

“Bruno de Souza Rodrigues was indicted for committing eight crimes: aggravated homicide, concealment of a corpse, attempted fraud (for trying to sell Jefferson Machado's vehicle and residence), completed fraud for managing to extract R$ 25,000 from the victim after deceiving him by promising a role in a soap opera, false identity, computer/social media hacking, theft, and animal abuse,” stated Elen Souto.
